Frontline Percussion Director
Location: West High School.

Responsibilities

Must demonstrate the ability to teach and coach young people in fundamentals and techniques.

Must demonstrate appropriate competitive drive to develop and maintain a strong program.

Must demonstrate desire to constantly improve the program and overall sports program at West High School.

Must demonstrate ability to motivate student‑athletes to be the best they can be on the court and in the classroom.

Must demonstrate ability to communicate with all stakeholders including administration, staff, students and booster club.

Must provide adequate supervision before, during and after practices/games.

Must lead by example demonstrating high character and solid moral background.

Must promote other programs at West High School and encourage participation in other activities.

Must work with Athletic Boosters in concession stands throughout the year, and be willing to attend one meeting per academic year.

Must be willing to support and implement Davenport's MTSS for both behavior and academics.

Good attendance and punctuality are a must to ensure duties are performed successfully.

Must possess strong interpersonal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students.

Any duties as assigned by head coach and administration.

Physical Requirements

Sit, stand, speak, hear, see, and walk to carry out routine duties.

Occasionally lift, move, or push items of 50 lbs. such as assisting children or moving/rearranging furniture.

Be able to supervise students in all types of weather.

Meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.

Implement Crisis Prevention Intervention strategies, including appropriate physical restraint procedures and escorting.

Noise level is quiet to loud.

Work may be indoors and/or outdoors.

Work may be in non‑air‑conditioned rooms.

Substance‑free environment.

Fast‑paced atmosphere with constant contact with students, staff, or the public.

Direct responsibility for the safety, well‑being, and work output of students.

Qualifications

Experience with competition/success at the state level is desired.

Marching band or drum corps background.

Experience as a member of marching band percussion section.

Experience teaching a marching percussion section.
