Media Resources Specialist II

The Media Resources Specialist II serves as a key technical resource responsible for supporting the institution's multimedia and audio-visual technology needs. Working under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Multimedia, this position ensures that fully operational multimedia and audio-visual equipment, systems, and supplies are readily available to support instructional, administrative, and special event functions across the college.
This position manages the deployment, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and support of multimedia and audio-visual technologies used in classrooms, meeting spaces, online learning environments, and large-scale campus events. The Media Resources Specialist II provides technical assistance to faculty, staff, and other users, ensuring a seamless technology experience that supports teaching, learning, and institutional operations.
Key responsibilities include coordinating the delivery, setup, installation, testing, and retrieval of multimedia and audio-visual equipment; diagnosing and resolving equipment and system issues; providing user training and technical guidance; and supporting classroom computers, virtual meeting platforms, presentation technologies, and multimedia systems. The position also assists with the maintenance, inventory management, and procurement of audio-visual equipment and related supplies.
The Media Resources Specialist II plays an active role in the planning, system design, implementation, and support of multimedia technology projects and campus-wide events. This position contributes to the development and continuous improvement of standard operating procedures, technical documentation, and best practices related to media services and technology support.
Additional duties may include managing and maintaining media resources collections; supporting audiovisual system upgrades and installations; conducting technical training sessions; researching emerging technologies; and assisting with long-range planning for multimedia resources and infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience with audio-visual control systems and multimedia technology, including experience programming and supporting Extron control systems and related audiovisual technologies.
This position is located across various Midlands Technical College campuses.
Minimum and additional requirements include:
Current Midlands Technical College employee.
A high school diploma and journey-level work experience in a related field.
Preferred qualifications include Extron Programming Certification, general knowledge of multimedia and communication equipment and installation in an educational setting, the ability to instruct faculty, staff and students in the proper operation of equipment such as projectors, computers, document cameras, and virtual online platforms, computer skills, multitasking, assessment of problems and solutions, and good communications skills. The physical demands of the job require: lifting up to fifty (50) pounds, balancing equipment while climbing stairs/ladders, reaching overhead, bending, stooping, and standing for long periods of time.
