Overview
The Content Director leads content strategy and execution for assigned clients, campaigns, and workstreams. The role involves collaborating across departments to develop content plans that align with brand voice and achieve client marketing goals across channels, and then translating those plans into strong writing, clear direction, and hands-on execution. From building client relationships and developing strategic recommendations to concepting with cross‑functional teams and creating content calendars, this role moves seamlessly between big‑picture thinking and hands‑on work.
Responsibilities & Skills
- Serves as a senior, client‑facing strategic partner on key accounts and complex content initiatives.
- Builds and presents content strategies, calendars, messaging frameworks, campaigns, and channel plans.
- Translates clients’ business, marketing, and communication goals into clear content recommendations and executable content plans.
- Utilizes AI tools that support strategy development, audience insights, persona development, and market research.
- Develops, writes, and edits content across websites, social media, email, blogs, paid media, digital ads, and video.
- Partners with Creative, Digital, PR, Media, and account teams to deliver integrated client work.
- Manages priorities, feedback, and workflow across assigned content projects.
- Identifies opportunities to improve content processes, collaboration, and quality of work.
- Reviews data, analytics, and platform performance to optimize content recommendations.
- Supports the broader content function through mentorship and collaboration.
- Brings strong writing, communication, presentation, and problem‑solving skills.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, communications, or a related field.
- 7–10 years of experience in content marketing, communications, or digital marketing.
- Understanding of SEO, AEO, content analytics, and platform best practices.
- Strong writing and editing experience across digital, social, and campaign channels.
- Experience contributing to annual planning, client strategy, or new business efforts.
- Experience fostering client relationships based on trust and credibility.
- Experience presenting or selling ideas and strategies to clients or company leadership.
- Food and agriculture experience preferred.
- Agency experience preferred.
Benefits & Compensation
Pay range: $90,000 – $105,000. Compensation is based on several factors including position, labor market, education, work experience, and certifications.
