Now Hiring: Technical Editor & Writer (Contract) – Elkridge, MD Area
I’m working with a leading company to identify a Technical Editor & Writer with a strong engineering or military systems background. This is a great opportunity for someone who can turn complex technical information into clear, structured documentation.
Pay Rate: $50/hour
Requirements: U.S. Citizenship and Active Secret Clearance
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, edit, and maintain technical publications for sensor and system operations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair
- Collaborate with engineers, writers, instructors, and task leads to deliver accurate documentation
- Ensure all materials meet military specifications and quality standards
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field or related discipline, or 7+ years of military operations and maintenance experience (radar, communications, electro-optics, networks, IT systems)
- Active DoD Secret clearance (required)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive
- Experience in structured publishing formats (HTML, XML, SGML)
Desired Experience:
- 10+ years of engineering or technical writing experience
- Military instructor background
- Willingness to obtain a higher-level clearance
Additional Details:
- Travel may be required (domestic and international)
- Role may involve physically demanding tasks in varied environments
