Role Summary
Develop construction packages for high‑voltage transmission and distribution projects, and help shape the quality and consistency of technical documentation. Apply expertise in AutoCAD and Civil 3D to produce and revise construction drawings, coordinate with technical teams, and contribute to workflow improvements. This role is ideal for a detail‑oriented professional who is passionate about delivering high‑quality work that supports critical infrastructure.

Qualifications

Associate’s of Applied Science degree in Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (CAD) or Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering Technology

6+ years of experience

Proficient understanding of design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, AutoCAD Electrical, Inventor, or MicroStation

Experience in high‑voltage substation design; knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical, Substation Design Suite, Inventor 3D, and/or safety codes, utility standards, and regulations (NESC, IEEE) is a plus

Strong ability to read, understand, and develop construction drawings

Ability to work independently and within a team environment across various offices and disciplines

Analytical and organizational skills with effective problem‑solving abilities and consistent attention to detail

Team‑oriented with experience collaborating across disciplines to support project execution

Clear and professional communication skills for conveying technical information across teams and disciplines

Valid Driver’s License required

Responsibilities

Create and revise drawings and documentation for substation projects, using AutoCAD and following scope documents, engineering sketches, or verbal instructions

Coordinate with technical personnel to gather and record data for design projects, complete as‑built records, and record print revisions from marked drawings

Contribute to the development and implementation of drawing development workflows and CAD-based design operations

Mentor less experienced designers/drafters and foster a culture of continuous learning and technical growth within the team

Maintain accountability for the quality of deliverables and support peer reviews to uphold team standards

Engage with clients to clarify technical requirements, contribute to project updates, and ensure alignment with expectations

Execute project tasks independently within established scope, schedule, and budget parameters

Participate in occasional site walks for current projects (less than 5% travel)
