Job Summary: As senior transmission engineer, you will lead and mentor team members, engage in challenging assignments, and contribute to the design and implementation of solutions for projects including utility infrastructure, renewable energy facilities, and critical data center applications. This role is based in Maine.Your Impact: You will design, analyze, and optimize electrical transmission systems including overhead and underground high-voltage power lines, and be responsible for project and client management. Your experienced background in transmission line design, structural analysis, and electrical engineering principles is integral to providing innovative solutions that align with SME's commitment to sustainability and technical excellence.On a typical day, you will:Design and develop high-voltage transmission lines (35kV – 345kV) using industry-standard software (PLS-CADD).Conduct structural, electrical, and thermal analyses to optimize system performance.Perform routing, siting, and impact assessments for transmission projects.Prepare technical specifications, construction drawings, and material lists.Conduct field assessments and site visits to support project planning and execution.Manage projects ensuring that project deliverables meet schedule, budget, and quality requirements.Provide technical support during construction, testing, and commissioning phases.Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and regulatory agencies including utilities and government agencies to ensure compliance with industry standards (NESC, IEEE, ANSI, etc.).Provide technical expertise and construction oversight.Your compensation and benefits package includes:100% company paid Medical, Life, and Long-term and Short-term Disability insuranceAnnual contributions to an HSA (if enrolled in company-provided health insurance plan)Paid vacation and sick time and 9 paid holidays per yearRetirement plan comprising three components: a 401(k) plan with matching contribution of up to 50% of 10% of your salary; profit sharing; and a non-discretionary 3% of gross pay contribution (all three components available after 1 year of service), and aPerformance-based year-end bonus!SME also offers:Work-life balance and flexible working hoursProfessional development and growth opportunitiesIntraoffice groups, including hiking, hockey, and runningCommunity involvement such as volunteer days and an SME sponsored road race team, andFall golf event, food truck days, cornhole tournaments, chili cookoff competition and more!Required skills and qualifications:Bachelor's degree in electrical, civil, or mechanical engineering from an ABET-accredited schoolMinimum of 5+ years of experience in transmission line design and engineering and understanding of structural and mechanical aspects of transmission linesProficiency with PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-TOWER softwareStrong knowledge of NESC, IEEE, and ANSI standardsExperience with AutoCAD, GIS mapping tools, and power system modeling softwareExcellent problem-solving skills and attention to detailAbility to manage multiple projects and work independently and within a teamExperience with distribution line design and knowledge of distribution equipment is a plusProfessional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required#J-18808-Ljbffr
