Senior AWS Engineer – Contract position, hybrid, Austin, TX (78774) with a 12‑month initial term, extendable. Must be located in Austin area at time of application; candidates needing relocation will not be considered.

Luna Data Solutions is seeking an experienced Senior AWS Engineer for a long‑term hybrid contract opportunity in Austin.

Role Focus:

Advanced AWS engineering, including serverless development, microservices, cloud architecture, CI/CD automation, and enterprise DevOps support.

Design, develop, and maintain cloud‑native applications leveraging AWS services.

Implement serverless architectures using AWS Lambda, API Gateway, CloudFormation, etc.

Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to design scalable, cost‑effective solutions.

Develop cloud migration strategies for existing applications.

Build and integrate APIs with internal systems and third‑party platforms.

Write reusable, scalable, high‑quality code.

Perform code reviews, debugging, performance optimization.

Design and implement CI/CD pipelines using AWS and enterprise DevOps tools.

Configure and support dev, test, and production environments with infrastructure teams.

Ensure compliance with security standards and best practices.

Conduct unit, system testing, and deployment activities.

Support Agile/Scrum delivery processes and participate in sprint ceremonies.

Provide knowledge transfer and mentorship to team members.

Participate in on‑call support as required.

Certifications required:

AWS Certified Developer – Associate

AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate

AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional

PeopleSoft experience is optional and considered a nice‑to‑have.

Minimum Qualifications

8+ years designing and developing applications in AWS cloud environments.

8+ years strong experience with core AWS services (Lambda, API Gateway, S3, EC2, CloudFront, Route 53, CloudFormation, CDK, SNS, SQS).

5+ years developing microservices‑based and event‑driven architectures.

5+ years proficiency in one or more languages: Python, JavaScript, Node.js, React.

5+ years experience with relational databases (Oracle, AWS RDS) and complex SQL queries.

5+ years experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB).

3+ years developing applications using NoSQL databases (MongoDB).

3+ years building DevOps pipelines (Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins, AWS DevOps services).

3+ years knowledge of authentication technologies (Okta, ForgeRock).

3+ years experience with message queue technologies (Kafka, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, or similar).

3+ years experience with monitoring/logging tools (Splunk, Dynatrace).

3+ years strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.

3+ years analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

3+ years presenting technical solutions to leadership and executive stakeholders.

3+ years with automated testing tools (Selenium).

3+ years using SourceTree (Git client), CCTray for AWS deployment monitoring, Cyberduck for S3 transfer, Yarn package manager.

2+ years understanding of security best practices (IAM, KMS) and implementing authentication with OKTA.

2+ years experience with WCAG 2.0 Standards, 508 Compliance/Web Accessibility.

2+ years experience with PeopleSoft (PS) environments, especially financial systems (plus but not required).
