Field Technician - Lighting Controls

Gasser Bush Associates is the largest manufacturers’ representative agency of commercial and industrial lighting and lighting controls equipment in Michigan and Northwest Ohio, currently representing over 100 different manufacturers. We work closely with all parts of the electrical construction industry, including architects, electrical engineers, electrical distributors and electrical contractors.

We are seeking a full‑time Lighting Controls Field Technician to join our dynamic and growing team. The successful candidate will work with contractors and facilities customers to commission and program lighting controls systems from multiple vendors, and will collaborate with project managers and sales staff throughout the construction process.

Key Responsibilities

Meet with contractors during the pre‑installation phase

Configure systems per specifications, primarily through specialized software

Troubleshoot systems and related lighting components as necessary

Coordinate and perform training sessions with end‑users for project completion

Handle warranty and service calls as required

Manage job‑site reporting in coordination with staff project managers

Required Qualifications and Skills

Associate degree or technical college program completion in a related field of study

Experience with Microsoft Office Suite

Ability to read and understand electrical plans

Excellent organizational and communication skills

Ability to work on multiple projects and manage workload to meet deadlines

Ability to work independently as well as interact effectively with others

Adaptability to unexpected changes on projects with a positive attitude

Experience with low‑voltage control and network communication systems

Preferred experience in lighting

Enthusiastic attitude toward lighting

Willingness to travel as required – training class trips, 2–3 times per year for up to 4 days at a time
