Overview
The Associated Press seeks a nimble and enterprising video journalist to cover breaking news in Oklahoma. The role requires a creative and innovative visual storyteller capable of sourcing, shooting, editing, and producing video across multiple formats, including live coverage. The position is temporary and covered by AP’s agreement with the News Media Guild.
Responsibilities
Shoot, edit, and produce video including live video to deliver comprehensive coverage for AP’s customers on digital, mobile, and broadcast platforms.
Write text stories and take still photos to support video reports.
Jump in on breaking news across the country, pitch ideas, develop stories with colleagues, and research to produce stories in all formats – text, photo, video, audio, digital/social, interactive, and graphics.
Assist with editing and producing live video, affiliate contributions, and video from other AP journalists as needed.
Cover extreme weather events across Oklahoma and elsewhere.
Travel extensively, often on short notice, and work at night and on weekends as required by a 24/7 operation.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, such as at least two years of full-time news experience as a video journalist at a broadcast station, online or digital news outlet, daily newspaper, or AP bureau.
All applicants must be able to work in the U.S. or obtain permission to do so.
Advanced-level proficiency in written and spoken English; proficiency in another language is a plus.
Advanced-level proficiency in video shooting and non-linear editing, preferably with Adobe Premiere; expertise in Sony cameras is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
Applicants who have a history of collaborating across formats on breaking news and projects from start to finish are especially welcome. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and planning skills are required to juggle complex story lines in video, photo, and text.
