About Us
The Brydon Group
is a Washington, D.C.-based private equity firm that partners with outstanding mid-career executives to acquire and grow business-to-business (B2B), business-to-government (B2G), and healthcare software and services platforms. Brydon is currently investing out of its Fund III, which closed in July 2025. At Brydon, talent is a core pillar of our strategy. We invest in great leaders, develop them intentionally, and believe that the strength of our people determines the strength of our outcomes. This philosophy applies equally across the Brydon ecosystem - all of our teams, and the executives and leaders across our portfolio companies.
About The Role
The Manager of Talent & Development will be a core member of Brydon's talent team, reporting directly to the Head of Talent. This is a dual‑mandate role: one part focused on designing and delivering talent development programming across Brydon's internal team and portfolio company leadership, and one part focused on serving as a hands‑on talent advisor to portfolio company executives. This role is ideal for a people professional who has designed and run leadership development programs, thrives building relationships with senior executives, and is energized by working in a fast‑paced, high‑accountability environment where they will own meaningful work from concept to execution.
Talent Development
Own and evolve our programming and development curricula for portfolio company CEOs and CXOs, including onboarding programs for newly placed executives, cohort‑based programming, and ongoing skill‑building initiatives
Design, build, and deliver structured talent development programming across portfolio company leadership teams, identifying and addressing development needs as they evolve across the Brydon ecosystem
Own and continuously improve Brydon's talent development calendar and roadmap, balancing structured programming with responsive, just‑in‑time support
Identify development needs across the Brydon ecosystem — conducting pre‑employment assessments (Criteria, Predictive Index) and deploying professional aptitude and proficiency models, gathering feedback, and staying close to evolving challenges facing our executives and leaders — and translate those needs into effective programs
Coordinate and manage external coaches, facilitators, and development partners as needed to supplement internal programming
Build and maintain a knowledge base of best practices, development resources, and frameworks that can be leveraged across the Brydon ecosystem
Track and measure program effectiveness, iterating continuously to improve quality and impact
Design and deliver talent development programming for Brydon's internal teams and contribute to firm‑wide talent initiatives, including internal onboarding and performance and development processes (e.g. yearly reviews and feedback cycles), in partnership with the broader talent team
Talent Advisory
Serve as a trusted advisor to portfolio company CEOs and senior leadership teams on people strategy, organizational design, and leadership development — building the kind of ongoing relationships where executives seek you out proactively
Support CEO and executive onboarding at newly acquired portfolio companies, ensuring leaders have the resources, frameworks, and connections to ramp effectively into their roles
Identify talent patterns and gaps across the portfolio, and develop scalable solutions — programs, tools, and resources — that address shared challenges across companies
Collaborate with Brydon's investment and portfolio operations teams to align talent initiatives with each company's value creation plan
Bring market intelligence and fresh thinking on talent trends to the team and to portfolio company partners — synthesizing insights from across the industry into actionable guidance
Education & Experience
5+ years of experience in a role with meaningful exposure to talent development, leadership development, L&D, talent advisory, organizational effectiveness, or a combination — ideally in private equity, professional services, management consulting, or executive search
Demonstrated experience designing and delivering structured development programs or curricula, with the ability to own program design end-to-end — not just facilitate or coordinate
Track record of building trusted relationships with senior executives and serving as a thought partner on people and leadership challenges
Comfort operating in a small, fast-moving team where initiative, ownership, and adaptability are essential — this is a builder role, not the inheritor of an established function
Familiarity with the LMM or middle market PE ecosystem, or strong interest in it; an understanding of what it means to lead a PE-backed company is a meaningful asset
Bachelor's degree required; graduate degree or professional development certifications are a plus
Skills & Attributes
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; you can present clearly to a room of senior executives and write a thoughtful professional development framework
Strong program design instincts; you understand how people develop, know how to structure cohort experiences, and bring creativity and rigor to how growth and learning happen
High emotional intelligence and relationship orientation; you build trust quickly with senior leaders and are known as someone people seek out for honest, useful guidance
Self‑directed and action‑oriented; you move from idea to execution without waiting to be told, and you bring follow‑through to everything you own
Systems mindset; you think about scalability and repeatability, and you document and codify your work so it compounds over time
Collaborative spirit with the ability to work effectively across investment, operations, and portfolio teams
Benefits
Compensation is expected to range between $115,000 - $140,000 USD, commensurate with experience
We strongly prefer DC-based candidates or those willing to relocate; we are open to discussing hybrid arrangements for exceptional candidates with a demonstrated ability to build relationships and deliver programming in a distributed environment
Brydon offers a comprehensive benefits package including health and life insurance and a 401(k) with matching contribution
