Position Summary
The Multimedia Photojournalist produces compelling visual journalism for print and digital platforms, including photography, video, and multimedia storytelling. This role supports daily news coverage, feature reporting, and community engagement, helping tell the stories of southeastern Connecticut.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Photography, Communications, or related field (or equivalent experience)

2+ years of professional photography or multimedia journalism experience

Strong portfolio demonstrating photojournalism work

Experience with video production and editing

Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and video editing software

Understanding of digital publishing and social media best practices

Knowledge of AP and Day style and journalistic ethics

FAA Part 107 certification preferred or willingness to obtain

Strong visual storytelling and news judgment

Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a face paced environment

Familiarity with multimedia reporting, including video and audio

Proficiency with Content Management System platforms and digital tools

Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

Knowledge of local communities and regional issues

Understanding of Connecticut Freedom of Information laws and public records processes

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and irregular hours as needed

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Cell phone and reliable cell service

Ability to travel throughout southeastern Connecticut

Ability to carry and operate photography and video equipment and software

Ability to work weekends, night and irregular hours are required

Ability to lift up to 15 pounds

Ability to work at a computer for extended periods

Ability to move across various terrains to cover assignments
