Position Summary The Vice President of Marketing and Communications is responsible for leading the development and execution of integrated strategies that advance the Phoenix Children’s brand, support business growth, and enhance the organization’s reputation as one of the nation’s leading pediatric health systems. This executive oversees marketing, communications, public relations, creative, and digital platforms to drive awareness, engagement, and loyalty among key audiences, including patients, families, referral sources, current employees, and prospective talent. The Vice President ensures brand consistency across all channels, maintains brand guidelines, and supports enterprise initiatives such as programmatic expansion, Centers of Excellence, research, education, and innovation. This role reports directly to the SVP, Chief Strategy Officer, and partners closely with executive leadership to align strategies with organizational priorities.
Position Duties Marketing: Develops and oversees the planning, executing, and optimizing integrated marketing initiatives that support organizational business goals, build brand awareness, and drive audience engagement. Ensures the development and continuous refinement of marketing campaigns, and promotional strategies in collaboration with Strategy, Clinical Leadership, the Foundation, and key stakeholders. Directs comprehensive market research and analysis to uncover trends, inform decision-making, and position the organization for sustained growth and success. Works across digital, print, and experiential channels to develop campaign strategies, manage content creation, coordinate with internal and external partners, and analyze performance metrics.
Communications: Develops and oversees the organization’s long‑range internal and external communications strategies that support the organization’s mission, initiatives, and brand voice. Oversees a high‑performing communications team that collaborates with physicians, health system leaders, and executives to create compelling content for press releases, newsletters, executive messaging, and social media that strengthens the Phoenix Children’s brand and community engagement. Positions system leaders and experts as thought leaders through media opportunities, speaking engagements, award opportunities and published content. Provides strategic communications counsel to leadership on key initiatives to ensure alignment with enterprise goals. Fosters collaboration with cross‑functional teams to ensure consistent and timely messaging that engages key stakeholders, builds awareness, and strengthens organizational reputation, including online review management, and ensures the organization is prepared to effectively manage emergency and crisis communications.
Digital Strategy: Leads the development and execution of comprehensive digital strategies that align with organizational goals and enhance user experience across all digital platforms. Utilizes analytical thinking with creative insight to drive performance across the enterprise website, mobile, social media, email, and digital advertising channels. Fosters collaboration between marketing, content, IT, and creative teams to define KPIs, optimize digital campaigns, implement SEO/SEM best practices, and leverage analytics to inform decision‑making.
Brand Strategy: Oversees the evolution and governance of the Phoenix Children’s brand, ensuring it is grounded in core values, key differentiators, and a clearly defined and compelling brand promise. Responsible for developing and executing comprehensive brand positioning, messaging frameworks, and market differentiation plans that align with the mission and resonate with key audiences. Fosters collaboration among creative, digital, and communications teams to translate audience insights into compelling narratives and brand experiences across all channels.

Position Qualifications Education: Bachelor's Degree in marketing, communications, or public relations. (Required)
Master's degree in business or healthcare administration. (Preferred)
Experience: Ten (10) or more years of experience in marketing, communications, or public relations leadership position. (Required)
Leadership experience in a health system. (Preferred)
