About the Role
Lowcountry Oncology Associates

is seeking a dedicated Mixing Technician to join its pharmacy team and support the delivery of high‑quality, compassionate cancer care. The chemotherapy mixing technician is responsible for the accurate, safe, and compliant preparation of sterile compounded medications, including hazardous chemotherapy agents, within an outpatient oncology infusion center. This role ensures adherence to USP

and USP

standards, state regulations, and organizational policies to maintain patient safety and medication integrity. Additionally, the technician will be cross trained with our Inter office dispensary to dispense special oncolytic oral medications. This position requires travel across four clinic locations in West Ashley, North Charleston, Mount Pleasant, and Summerville, offering variety and collaboration across the practice. Qualifications
Computer skills required: electronic medical record systems, inventory and dispensary management platform, Microsoft office
Knowledge and understanding of Community Pharmacy daily operations as they pertain to filling, processing, and/or dispensing of oral medications
Knowledge and understanding of the practice of community-based outpatient infusion center
Ability to work effectively with all departments and vendors
Attention to detail with strong mathematical calculation skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced infusion center environment

Responsibilities
Prepare sterile compounded medications, including chemotherapy and biologic agents, per physician orders
Sorting, stocking, and labeling medications and monitoring inventory in the medication dispensing cabinets and stock rooms
Perform all compounding in accordance with:
USP

(sterile compounding)
USP

(hazardous drug handling)
Utilize aseptic technique in appropriate environments (biological safety cabinet (BSC)
Accurately calculate drug dosages, volumes, concentrations and diluents based on protocols
Label and stage medications for double check verification and nursing administration
Responding to the requests of healthcare providers, answering their questions, and referring various inquiries to the Pharmacist
Complying with rules, regulations, and procedures to help maintain a clean and safe pharmacy, such as using controlled system transfer devices and cleaning surfaces per USP 797 and 800 standards
Processing specialty prescriptions electronically and ensuring all information is accurate and complete
Administrative tasks such as record-keeping as assigned by the Pharmacist
Delivering medications at the counter and processing payments for our Inter Office Dispensary
Assisting with researching and applying for drug assistance programs for patients needing financial assistance for specialty oncology medications
Assist with inventory management of chemotherapy agents, diluents, and supplies
Monitor expiration dates and ensure proper storage conditions (including refrigeration and hazardous storage requirements)
Coordinate workflow to support efficient patient throughput in infusion center
Communicate delays, discrepancies, or concerns to pharmacist and nursing staff
Work closely with pharmacists, nurses, and providers to ensure timely and accurate medication preparation
Escalate discrepancies in orders, dosing, or protocols immediately
Support a culture of safety and compliance in a high-risk oncology environment
Measuring, mixing, and labeling medication doses or immediate use in the infusion clinic
