Role Description
This is a full‑time, on‑site Photographer and Videographer role based in the San Francisco Bay Area. The person in this position will capture high‑quality photos and videos at events, including setup, key moments, decor, candid interactions, and post‑event details. They will plan and execute shoots, coordinate with event planners and clients on creative direction, and ensure all visual content aligns with brand and client expectations. Daily responsibilities include setting up and operating cameras, lighting, and audio equipment; managing shot lists and timelines; and troubleshooting technical issues on‑site. The role also involves editing photos and videos, preparing files for various platforms, maintaining organized media libraries, and delivering content on deadlines. Collaboration with the broader MMJ Events team for marketing content, social media assets, and promotional materials is expected.

Qualifications

Proven experience in event photography and videography, with a strong portfolio showcasing live events, candid moments, and styled shots.

Proficiency in operating professional camera systems (DSLR or mirrorless), lenses, lighting, and audio equipment for on‑site shoots.

Strong skills in photo and video editing software (e.g., Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar tools).

Ability to plan and execute shoots, follow creative direction, and adapt quickly to changing event conditions and timelines.

Excellent visual storytelling abilities, with a strong sense of composition, lighting, and pacing for both still images and video.

Effective communication and collaboration skills to work closely with event planners, clients, and vendors in a fast‑paced environment.

Strong organizational and time‑management skills, including managing shot lists, backing up media, and meeting delivery deadlines.

Comfort working on‑site at events, including standing for extended periods, moving equipment, and working evenings or weekends as needed.

Familiarity with social media formats and best practices for delivering content optimized for platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube is a plus.
