Supervisory Foreign Affairs Officer
Serves as a Supervisory Foreign Affairs Officer and the lead ocean policy expert for the Office of Ocean and Polar Affairs. Provides direct day-to-day supervision, guidance, and oversight for the staff.
Responsible for developing, coordinating, negotiating, and implementing U.S. foreign policy, positions, and initiatives pertaining to marine resource use and management, marine science, and marine pollution management.
Develops and maintains contacts with senior officials within the Department, U.S. government agencies, congressional staff, foreign governments & other various groups to advance international ocean policies/programs.
Represents the Department and Administration in efforts to advance U.S. ocean priorities and policies and gains international acceptance of these policies.
Plans, organizes, and directs strategy for promoting U.S. policy, both domestically and internationally, in the areas of international marine resource use and management, marine science, and marine pollution management.
