About the Role

Epic Games is looking for an Unreal Engine Software Engineer, Character & Animation to join our team in Bellevue, WA. In this role, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining high-quality character and animation systems that are used across a wide variety of games and interactive experiences developed within Unreal Engine.
Responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain scalable and performant character and animation systems within Unreal Engine.
Collaborate with artists, designers, and other engineers to understand and implement character and animation requirements.
Optimize existing systems for performance and memory usage.
Debug and resolve issues related to character and animation systems.
Contribute to the overall architecture and design of the Unreal Engine.
Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in real-time character and animation technologies.
Qualifications

Strong proficiency in

C++

and object-oriented programming.
Extensive experience with

Unreal Engine , particularly its character and animation pipelines.
Deep understanding of real-time

3D character animation systems , including rigging, skinning, and blend shapes.
Experience with

physics

and

simulation systems

related to characters.
Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
A passion for creating high-quality interactive experiences.
Knowledge of

linear algebra

and

3D math .
Nice to Haves

Experience with other game engines or animation software.
Familiarity with various animation techniques (e.g., motion capture, procedural animation).
Experience with performance profiling and optimization tools.
Experience with large-scale game development.
