The Sr. Sales Planner supports forecasting, inventory planning, and in-stock performance for Walmart and Sam’s Club. This role plays a critical part in aligning demand and supply plans across Sales, Supply Chain, and Operations to improve forecast accuracy, optimize inventory levels, and support strong retail execution in a fast-paced customer environment. The ideal candidate brings experience in demand planning, supply planning, or integrated business planning within a CPG or retail environment and is comfortable independently managing end-to-end planning processes while partnering cross- functionally to drive business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Forecasting & Demand Planning
Manage annual and rolling shipment forecasts within Anaplan or similar planning systems
Support the monthly S&OP process through preparation of insights, identification of risks, and development of actionable recommendations
Analyze demand trends and key business drivers to improve forecast accuracy and alignment to business expectations
Monitor forecast performance and adjust plans based on changing business conditions and retail signals
Inventory & Supply Planning
Support inventory planning strategies to improve in-stock performance while minimizing excess inventory and obsolescence
Partner with Supply Chain and Operations teams to align supply plans with demand forecasts and business priorities
Assist with inventory management activities, including markdown planning and end-of-life product transitions
Identify supply and inventory risks and help coordinate mitigation plans across stakeholders
Retail Performance & Execution
Analyze shipment, sales, and in-stock performance to generate actionable insights for internal stakeholders
Track item-level performance and support root-cause analysis across retail channels
Partner with cross-functional teams to improve on-shelf availability and e-commerce fulfillment performance
New Item & Promotional Planning
Support forecasting and planning for new item launches, displays, and seasonal programs
Partner with Sales teams on promotional planning and ensure supply readiness
Support post-promotional analysis, including sales performance, incremental lift, and execution effectiveness
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner closely with Sales, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to support business objectives
Develop strong working knowledge of replenishment, logistics, and distribution processes
Participate in weekly business reviews by highlighting performance trends, risks, and opportunities
Support continuous improvement initiatives across planning processes, systems, and tools
Knowledge / Abilities:
Strong understanding of forecasting, S&OP, demand planning, and inventory management principles
Advanced Excel skills and experience with planning systems (Anaplan or similar)
Strong analytical capability with ability to translate data into actionable business insights
Strong communication skills with ability to present findings and recommendations clearly
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Collaborative mindset with ability to work effectively across Sales, Supply Chain, and Operations Sr. Sales Planner
Basic Qualifications:
4+ years of professional level experience in demand planning, supply chain planning, forecasting, or integrated business planning
Experience supporting Walmart, Sam’s Club, or similar large retail customers strongly preferred
Demonstrated ability to present insights and recommendations to cross-functional stakeholders
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and execution discipline
Work is performed in a fast-paced office environment and may be stressful at times. Work may require sitting for long periods of time; requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, calculator, telephone, copier and fax machine and scanner.
