Assistant Race Promoter – Part-Time, Entry Level

About the role
We’re looking for a part‑time assistant race promoter to help plan and run community foot races. This is an entry‑level position — no prior race experience required. You’ll get hands‑on training and work alongside our lead promoter on everything from recruiting volunteers to posting on social media to reaching out to local sponsors.

Typical hours are 8–15 per week, 6–8 hours on race days.

What you’ll do
Volunteer coordination

— Recruit and sign up volunteers for race‑day roles including water stations, course marshaling, packet pickup, finish line support, and parking. Send confirmation emails and day‑of instructions. Help check in volunteers on race morning and keep them informed throughout the event.

Social media and marketing

— Draft and schedule posts on Instagram, Facebook, and X to promote registration, share training tips, spotlight runners, and post race‑day photos and results. Help send email updates to registered participants with course maps, bib pickup info, and event reminders.

Sponsor support

— Research local businesses that might sponsor our events — running stores, gyms, health brands, and restaurants. Help prepare outreach emails and sponsorship materials. Coordinate logo placement and assist with sponsor booths and activations on race day.

Race‑day operations

— Assist with packet pickup, bib distribution, and race‑day registration. Support timing vendor coordination and help post results. Serve as a general point of contact for volunteers, runners, and vendors during the event.

Qualifications

Organized and reliable, able to juggle multiple tasks and follow through on commitments

A clear communicator, comfortable emailing volunteers, sponsors, and runners

Comfortable with social media on a personal level (no professional experience required)

Available on race weekends, which are typically Saturdays or Sundays

Enthusiastic about running, fitness, or community events

Bonus if you have experience with event volunteering, customer service, social media content creation, or any administrative work — but none of it is required.

Pay and hours

Part‑time, 8–15 hours per week. $18–$22 per hour depending on experience. Hours increase around race weekends.
