Part‑Time Lecturer Pool Position
Department of Public Affairs and Administration
Position available: One or more temporary, part‑time lecturers for a pool from which instructors will be considered for appointments as they become available for the Fall Semester 2026, and/or Spring Semester 2027.

The Department of Public Affairs and Administration offers two Master’s degrees: the M.S. in Health Care Administration and the Master of Public Administration degree with options in Health Care Administration and Public Management and Policy Analysis. Coursework consists of graduate courses in the areas of public management, human resources management, public policy, health care administration, and organizational change. The faculty consists of four full‑time and approximately eleven part‑time practitioner‑lecturers, teaching some 420 students in both degrees.

Duties of the Position
Lecturers are needed to teach a wide range of Health Care Administration and Public Administration courses. Courses are taught primarily on weeknights. Teaching assignments may include courses at the Hayward campus, Concord Center, and/or online. All faculty members are expected to perform all duties within the state of California.

Rank and Salary
Lecturer. Salary is dependent upon educational preparation and experience. Position appointment is subject to budgetary authorization.

Lecturer AY (Range 2) - $5,507 - $6,677

Lecturer AY (Range 3) - $6,221 - $13,224

Lecturer AY (Range 4) - $6,825 - $14,523

Lecturer AY (Range 5) - $8,593 - $15,211

The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.

Date of Appointment
Fall Semester begins August 17, 2026; Spring Semester begins January 19, 2027.

Qualifications
Candidates must hold (or be near completion of) a PhD or DrPH in health care, health care administration/management, a PhD or DPA in public administration, or a doctoral degree in a closely related field. Administrators and other practitioners with an MS in HCA, MPH, MHA, MPA, MBA, JD or other professional degree and significant practical experience will also be considered for courses in their areas of expertise. Teaching and course development experience is desirable, especially experience with fully online or partially online courses.
