The Maryland‑National Capital Park Police, Prince George’s County Division seeks a motivated individual to serve as a Social Media & Digital Communications Associate within the Office of Public Information. This part‑time position provides structured experience in public information, social media management, and digital communication within a law enforcement agency.

Responsibilities

Assist in creating and scheduling social media content (photos, videos, graphics, captions).

Support digital outreach initiatives, newsletters, and communication materials.

Monitor official social media platforms and draft professional responses for review.

Collect digital content at community events, trainings, and outreach activities.

Conduct research on public safety topics, digital trends, and community engagement strategies.

Help maintain content calendars, media archives, and digital asset organization.

Provide administrative and communication support as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Enrollment in, recent completion of, or plans to enter a program in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Digital Media, Criminal Justice, Political Science, or a related field.

Strong writing and verbal communication skills.

Basic knowledge of social media platforms and digital communication practices.

Ability to meet deadlines, work collaboratively, and demonstrate professionalism.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, photography, or video editing.

Familiarity with analytics or social media management tools.

Bilingual or multilingual skills.

Optional portfolio or digital work samples.

Working Conditions

Primarily office‑based, with occasional outdoor fieldwork for content gathering.

Optional evening or weekend hours for events.

Interaction with the public, sworn officers, and civilian staff is required.

Local travel within Prince George’s County may be necessary.

Benefits Summary for Seasonal Intermittent Employees
You may be eligible for health insurance benefits if you work at least 30 hours per week during the first 12 months of employment, or 1,560 hours over a 12‑month period. Eligible employees pay 35% of the health insurance plan premium and the Commission pays 65%.
