About IntBot
IntBot builds socially intelligent humanoid robots and puts them in some of the busiest rooms in the world: airports, hotels, trade-show floors, and public lobbies.
Our robots greet people, read rooms, hold conversations, answer questions, tell jokes, and occasionally dance. They run on IntEngine, our multimodal social-intelligence platform for embodied AI.
Here is the part that matters for this role: our robots are characters.
Nylo, Nemi, and Kai are not product SKUs with names attached. They have distinct personalities, histories, opinions, relationships, and fans. As our robots enter more venues and meet more people, somebody needs to define who they are, protect what makes each of them recognizable, and deepen their world over time.
That is this job.
About the Role
You will be the keeper of IntBot’s character universe: the writer responsible for who our robots are, what they say, and how their world expands.
This role sits somewhere between narrative design, brand copywriting, character development, and canon management. You will own the voices of multiple distinct characters and protect the line between them: the company voice is not the character voice; Kai is not a copy of Nylo; and Nemi is never, ever quiet.
You will work closely with our brand, content, deployment, product, and engineering teams. You may write a six-word Instagram caption in the morning, review dialogue for a hotel deployment in the afternoon, and build a character bible for a newly launched robot before the week ends.
The formats change constantly. The personalities never do.
What You Will Do
Own the Character Roster
- Maintain and deepen the personalities, histories, relationships, and lore of Nylo, Nemi, Kai, and our extended cast of deployed robots: José, Oto, Tulse, Neo, and the characters still to come.
- Define what makes each character distinct enough that a stranger could tell them apart without seeing their names.
Write in Character, Every Day
- Write social captions, short-form posts, video scripts, event copy, voice lines, scripted interactions, and dialogue for live deployments.
- Establish the standard for anything a robot says in public, whether it appears online or is spoken in a hotel lobby.
Maintain the Canon
- Build and maintain a living character bible covering traits, voice rules, histories, relationships, visual cues, running themes, and boundaries.
- Document what each character would say, what each character would never say, and why.
- Give new writers, vendors, and teammates the tools to write consistently in character.
Expand the Universe
- Develop new characters as robots enter new venues and form factors.
- Create recurring series, sibling dynamics, narrative arcs, and small moments that give audiences a reason to return.
- Turn real-world deployments into stories without making the characters feel like advertisements.
Protect the Voices
- Review character work from across the company.
- Catch the line that is funny, but not Kai funny.
- Know the difference between a strong joke and a joke that breaks the character.
- Explain the distinction clearly enough that other writers improve.
Write Across Formats
- Adapt each personality across TikTok captions, comics, deployment scripts, video concepts, live interactions, event appearances, and future formats we have not invented yet.
- Preserve character integrity as the medium, audience, and setting change.
Work Closely with Product and Engineering
- Understand how our robots perceive, speak, gesture, move, and respond in real environments.
- Translate character intent into practical product requirements for prompts, interaction flows, motion cues, and deployment behavior.
- Work with engineering teams to make sure personality survives contact with the real world.
Who You Are
- You are a writer with range. You have written comedy, dialogue, and short-form copy, and you can show work where character drives the humor rather than isolated jokes.
- You are fluent in voice. You can write as five distinct characters in one afternoon, and a reader could tell them apart with the names covered.
- You are funny in a specific way: dry, observant, character-driven, and grounded in specificity rather than cleverness for its own sake.
- You understand that the best characters do not know they are funny.
- You are a systems thinker about creative work. You like style guides, voice documentation, and canon management because consistency at scale requires infrastructure.
- You are comfortable receiving feedback that is short and directional. “Funnier,” “warmer,” or “less polished” are notes you know how to act on.
- You are interested in robots, or willing to become the kind of person who develops strong opinions about gait, eye animations, and head design.
- You are comfortable working closely with technical teams and learning how the product actually works.
Nice to Have
- Experience in narrative design for games, animation writing, character licensing, or building a brand-character account that people genuinely followed.
- Experience writing for live or embodied performance, including improv, puppetry, theme parks, interactive entertainment, or voice-acting direction.
- Familiarity with how internet culture metabolizes characters: memes, fan art, recurring bits, AMAs, lore speculation, and fandom behavior.
- Experience developing dialogue systems, interactive fiction, branching narratives, or AI-driven character experiences.
- A portfolio that makes us laugh for reasons you can explain afterward.
Why Join IntBot
Most companies are building robots as tools. We are building robots that people remember.
You will help define the personalities of embodied AI systems already meeting people in hotels, airports, conferences, and public spaces. Your work will not sit in a concept deck. It will speak, move, and develop a life of its own in front of real audiences.
