Austin, TX or San Diego, CA (must be local — we are not hiring remote for this role) $3,000 / month + travel covered 3 days/week · 2-month contract (1099) with potential to extend Domestic travel with Alli required (festivals, retail visits, events)
About Super Mush
We're a mental wellness lifestyle brand inspired by the power of functional mushrooms — lion's mane, reishi, cordyceps, turkey tail, chaga — and the colorful, community-first culture that surrounds them. Our mouth sprays, gummies, and supplements help people feel focused, calm, and alive.
In four years, we've grown into a multi-million-dollar brand, hit
1,800 retail doors
(including
Target and Sprouts ), raised
$6.5M from 130+ investors
(founders of Thrive Market, Hu, Netflix, Zumba), hosted
70+ IRL community events
across the U.S., and built a
400k+ following
across our social channels. Our wellness podcast sits in the top 5% of global shows.
NDude is our family investment company and has been proudly working closely with Super Mush as equity partners, supporting any backend necessities across the brand’s growth and operations.
CEO Alli Schaper
is a proud Forbes 30 Under 30, a speaker, podcaster, and one of the most recognizable voices in modern wellness and advocates for functional mushrooms. She's everywhere — Austin City Limits, Summit, founder dinners, retail launches, the podcast studio, the road.
We need someone in her shadow making sure none of those moments go uncaptured.
The role
You'll be Alli's behind-the-camera best friend. Three days a week you're with her — at podcast tapings, retail visits, festivals, founder dinners, planes, hotel rooms, the in-between. Your job is to shoot the real stuff, ship same-day cuts, and directly relay content needs, footage, notes, and priorities to our team in India so they can help move content approval/assistance forward fast — all while building her founder brand and pulling people deeper into the Super Mush universe.
This is a vlog-style, doc-style, "in the room where it happens" role.
You show up, shoot, cut, and ship.
What you'll actually do
Shadow Alli ~3 days/week across her schedule (podcast, events, travel, retail, daily life)
Move fluidly between
professional camera work
(cinematic B-roll, podcast multicam, event coverage) and
lo-fi iPhone UGC
(selfie-style talking heads, fast-cut trend formats, behind-the-scenes)
Cut and ship
8–12 short-form pieces/week
for TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and X
Deliver
1–2 longer doc-style pieces/month
(3–8 min) for YouTube and our owned media
Travel domestically with Alli for festivals (ACL, Summit Series, music + wellness gatherings), retail launches, founder events, NYC/LA trips
Keep the raw archive organized and handed off cleanly to our broader content team
Bring ideas. We don't want a button-pusher — we want a creative partner who pitches hooks, formats, and series. Be a team player.
Required experience
This is a real production role, not an entry point. To do this job well you need to walk in with:
A clear background in filming and content creation
— at least 1+ years of paid work as a videographer, content creator, or social producer, with a portfolio that proves it
Proficiency with a professional camera system
— a mirrorless or cinema body (Sony A7 / FX3, Canon R5/R6, Panasonic GH, Blackmagic, etc.), confident with manual exposure, lens choice, lighting, on-camera audio, and a basic gimbal setup
Strong editing chops in a professional NLE
— Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve, including color, sound mixing, and clean caption work
Fluent in mobile UGC production
— you know when to drop the cinema rig and shoot a vertical, raw, authentic iPhone piece because that's what the moment calls for, and you can edit it in CapCut on the road
The judgment to choose the right format on the fly
— knowing when to go cinematic, when to go UGC, and when to mix both in the same week
Preferred Applicants
Has a Gen Z or younger-millennial sensibility for what performs on TikTok and Reels
1–5 years into your career
as a videographer, content creator, or social producer
Based in
Austin or San Diego
with reliable transportation
A self-starter who manages your own shoots and doesn't need a producer holding your hand
Comfortable being in a founder's shadow
Down to travel domestically on short notice
Aligned with our world: wellness-curious, festival-friendly, community-first
You've shadowed a founder, creator, or artist before
Your own social presence shows you understand the assignment
You've built series or recurring formats that performed
You can shoot a multicam podcast setup solo
Experience with drone, gimbal stabilization, or basic lighting kits
You have a personal POV on wellness, mental health, or functional nutrition
Comp & logistics
$3,000/month
(1099 contract)
2 months
to start, with strong intent to extend if it's working
3 days/week
on-shoot — exact days flex with Alli's calendar
Travel covered
— flights, lodging, per diem on the road
You keep your gear
— bring your own pro camera body, lenses, mic, iPhone; we'll cover any specialty add-ons if necessary
How to apply
Send us:
Your reel or a link to 3 pieces you're most proud of — including
one cinematic professional piece and one iPhone UGC piece
— with one line on why each worked
One example of a same-day or next-day turnaround (shot → published in under 24h)
Your IG/TikTok handle and a list of the gear you currently own
A few sentences on why this role, and one idea for a Super Mush x Alli series you'd want to make
Subject line:
Founder Content Creator — [Your Name] — [Austin or SD]
We're moving fast. First calls within a week of receiving strong applications. We would like to do one paid trial shoot day with Alli before we sign.
