Full-time · On-site · Some travel to client locations required
About the role
We're a creative and marketing production agency that acts as a fractional marketing department for a broad roster of clients across a lot of different industries. We're looking for a Digital & Social Content Creator who lives and breathes social. Someone genuinely dialed into internet culture, fast on their feet creatively, and energized by the idea of making great work for other people's brands.
This is a hands‑on creator role, not a strategist‑behind‑a‑desk role. You'll concept, shoot, edit, and publish content yourself, mostly the kind of work that can be done well from a phone with tools like CapCut and Canva. You'll spot trends early, repurpose them in ways that fit each client, and turn a “what if we did this?” into something live before the moment passes.
We care a lot about the work not looking like everyone else's. The bar is simple: when people see it, we want them to think, “I bet I know who did that.”
What you'll do
Create and produce
Concept, create, and produce engaging photo and short‑form video content for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube.
Shoot and edit your own original content (reels, stories, shorts, and other digital formats), primarily using phone‑based and lightweight tools.
Write compelling social copy that fits each brand's voice.
Capture on‑site content for clients: events, interviews, behind‑the‑scenes footage, and promotional campaigns.
Spot and act on trends
Stay genuinely current on social trends, platform updates, and emerging content formats. Treat trend monitoring as a daily habit, not a task.
Repurpose trends and existing pieces in ways that create real opportunities for our clients.
Proactively identify content opportunities, including while on‑site.
Publish and stay organized
Follow our established content pillars and load content into our Sprout Social dashboard in draft or scheduled status, so the team can review efficiently, and we're all working in sync.
Maintain organized digital assets: photos, video, and project files.
Manage multiple content requests across multiple clients at once and consistently hit deadlines.
Research and stay accountable
Produce simple research documents on internet culture and trends and present them to the team on a consistent basis. Share what you're seeing, what you want to try, and why, so we can coach, guide, and guardrail before things go live. This keeps the ideas flowing and keeps trend work accountable.
Work closely with account managers, designers, and strategists to bring campaigns to life.
Participate in content planning sessions and creative brainstorms.
Develop creative concepts aligned with client goals, brand standards, and current trends.
Grow into ownership
Assist with client content calendars and identify timely, relevant, engaging opportunities, with the goal of taking full ownership of calendars over time, as trust is built.
Help create content for Matchstrike Creative itself. This is a real area of emphasis for us, with a lot of room to experiment and grow.
Help build our measurement system (over time)
Analytics and reporting aren't the day‑one focus, but we want to build a consistent system for tracking metrics that genuinely matter to clients, and that we can also use as a sales tool (“we helped this account grow X% in engagement”). You'll help shape a repeatable process that we make part of our protocols.
What we're looking for in you
Funny and creative. This is close to a requirement. We want someone who can take a creative risk, not reckless or off‑brand, just unafraid to make work that stands out instead of blending in.
Proactive. You don't wait to be handed ideas. You bring them, document them, and want to go execute them for our clients.
Dialed in. You're already on your phone watching what's working across platforms. You understand what actually connects with people.
Analytical and organized. You can juggle many clients and content types at once, manage your workflow, and follow a system.
A real understanding of audience. You can grasp different client demographics, target groups, and the purpose behind each content pillar, and tailor work accordingly.
A team player who collaborates well across roles and wants to see both our clients' businesses and our agency grow.
Skills and tools
Required
Ability to shoot and edit your own short‑form photo and video content end to end.
Comfort working within a publishing workflow and scheduling tool (we use Sprout Social, and we'll train you on our setup).
Nice to have
Comfort on camera. We aren't hiring for an on‑camera personality, but if you've got it, we'd love it, and we'll find the right clients for it.
Interest in higher‑level production tools like Adobe Premiere. Not required; we're happy to coach you up if you want to grow there.
A background or education in marketing, communications, PR, or a related field. Beneficial, but not required. Instinct and a portfolio matter more.
Logistics
Based in the Birmingham area.
Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to client locations as needed for shoots and on‑site content capture.
