About Us
Here We Are Studios (HWAS) is the branded content and production arm of San Diego Magazine—one of the first and most trusted city publications in America. We make films, podcasts, campaigns, and live experiences that connect brands to the soul of San Diego.

We’re growing fast and need someone who can sit at the center of it all: the person clients call, the person producers rely on, and the person who makes sure nothing falls through the cracks. If you thrive when you’re juggling a whale client’s marketing strategy, a live activation, and a video shoot—all in the same week—this role was built for you.

What You’ll Do

Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for HWAS clients across branded content, events, and media campaigns—owning the relationship from kickoff through delivery

Build and manage project timelines, budgets, shot lists, run-of-shows, and production schedules across multiple concurrent projects

Translate client briefs; keep the creative team informed, aligned, and unblocked

Coordinate freelancers, photographers, vendors, and talent—sourcing, contracting, scheduling, and supervising

Produce on-site at events and activations: you’re the person on the ground with the clipboard, the radio, and the answer

Manage underwriting and partnership deliverables in coordination with creative, editorial and sales leadership

Develop SOWs, recap reports, and post-project analysis that make clients want to come back

Identify upsell and renewal opportunities within existing client relationships

Support executive team with new business pitches and proposal development

What You’ll Own on Day 1
This isn’t a ramp-up role. You’re walking into an active, funded portfolio and we need you running immediately. Here’s what’s already in motion:

A major healthcare client requiring ongoing marketing strategy, design, creative direction, and project management. This is a relationship that needs a dedicated point of contact from day one.

A branded gaming event series we’re building from scratch. You’ll own production logistics across two live events in different locations across the city.

A food & beverage activation where we’re owning the concept, the promotion, and the film and photo production of the deliveries themselves.

Our largest editorial production of the year. Expanded features, original photography, video profiles, and a podcast. You’ll manage the underwriting partner relationships and keep production on schedule.

Who You Are

5-10 years in account management, integrated production, or client services—ideally in media, agency, or branded content

Proven track record managing multiple clients or projects simultaneously without dropping a ball

Comfortable reading a budget, building a timeline, and writing a client‑facing deck

Experience producing or coordinating live events—you know what a run‑of‑show is and you’ve held one at 11pm the night before

Strong written communicator—your emails are clear, your recaps are tight, your creative briefs are actually useful

Experience working with video, photo, or podcast productions—you don’t need to shoot or edit, but you need to speak the language

Low ego, high ownership—you’re not too senior to make a call sheet and not too junior to push back on a client

Deep roots in or genuine love for San Diego’s creative and cultural community is a real plus

Bonus Points

Experience at a creative/content studio or in media

Familiarity with editorial production cycles and advertiser/underwriter relationships

Background in experiential marketing or brand activation

Existing relationships in the San Diego brand, agency, or hospitality community

Full‑Time, Exempt

Flexible PTO + Holidays

Front‑row seat to San Diego’s cultural, culinary, and civic life—this is not a desk job

Direct access to and mentorship from senior editorial and business leadership

A lean, talented team that moves fast and trusts you to own your work

The chance to help build something—HWAS is growing and this role grows with it

Here We Are Studios and San Diego Magazine are equal opportunity employers. We are committed to building a team that reflects the diversity of the city we cover.
