Weekend Sports Anchor/MMJ WJHG is hiring a Weekend Sports Anchor/MMJ in Panama City Beach, Florida, to deliver sports coverage for TV, streaming, digital, and social. This person will shoot, write, edit, anchor, and pitch and produce enterprise stories that go beyond highlights and connect with all viewers. The right candidate is a self‑starter with strong on‑air presence and storytelling skills, ready to cover everything from high school and college to outdoor and community sports across the Florida panhandle.
Responsibilities Report sports stories that matter to the local market under the direction of the Sports Director and News Director.
Produce and anchor weekend sportscasts; fill in for the Sports Director as needed during the week.
Coordinate coverage plans with management for major events; adjust schedule to meet coverage demands.
Work independently in the field, including setting up/operating live gear and executing live shots.
Create content for multiple platforms: broadcast, web, social, and WJHG's growing streaming presence.
Learn streaming desk operations and contribute to streaming sports/talk shows and podcasts on a regular basis as directed by management.
Maintain flexibility in hours/days as assignments and breaking sports coverage require.
Perform other duties, outside sports coverage, as assigned by management.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field.
Knowledge of sports important in Florida, and an understanding of the sports most watched in the local DMA.
Ability to work a flexible schedule as necessary and fill in for the Sports Director.
Must be able to shoot, write, and edit independently, plus operate and troubleshoot live equipment and learn streaming desk operations.
Must be a team player, willing and ready to assist in any capacity in the newsroom as directed by management.
A valid driver's license and good driving record are required.
