Position Overview
Full‑Time Temporary position. Specialized and technical work in collecting, retrieving, analyzing, organizing, and presenting video evidence gathered from digital devices such as computers, cell phones, televisions, CCTV, and cameras.
Responsibilities
- Retrieve videos for investigative units and public records requests, and prepare the footage for playback by editing, redacting, splicing, and enhancing.
- Log all requests and maintain records of video evidence while ensuring security and confidentiality of files in the video lab.
- Receive assignments orally or in writing, and allow for review by a superior either during the process or upon completion.
- Furnish video evidence in response to investigations and public records requests to department members and other agencies.
- Enhance imagery, edit for time or subject, create side‑by‑side comparisons, and apply other techniques to achieve optimal results for playback.
- Record all inquiries and requests and document any changes made to the original footage to maintain evidence integrity.
- Maintain chain‑of‑custody records and preserve confidentiality of files and information.
- Monitor lab equipment to ensure proper functionality and assist with the installation of necessary software and hardware for video processing.
- Prepare reports of work completed, ongoing, and pending.
- Contribute to specialized reports regarding evidence, intelligence, and crime statistics.
- Appear in court to provide testimony on behalf of the department as needed.
- Perform other related work as required.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 60 college credits and at least two (2) years of experience retrieving and processing video footage. Video editing experience is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license issued by any state. Upon appointment, a State of Florida driver’s license (Class E or higher) must be presented and maintained.
- Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education and experience beyond a high school diploma and at least six (6) months of the required experience.
- Willingness to work evenings, nights, and weekends as needed.
