Serco-NA has an opening for and immediately hiring an Acoustic Engineer supporting the Acoustics Systems Integration Team in PMS450, the VIRGINIA Class Submarine program office. As the Acoustics Engineer, you will provide technical and programmatic support to PMS450 and the U.S. Navy’s Team Submarine Program Offices at the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, DC. This is an opportunity to join our growing team and influence the Navy’s future premier attack submarine.

In This Role, You Will

Support PMS450 evaluation of proposed designs and arrangements.

Maintain expert-level knowledge of ship specification sections and first tier references for technical requirements and program compliance.

Review technical and engineering submittals, providing assessments of issues/recommendations, consolidating differing viewpoints and defining options with associated pros and cons.

Liaise with Red-Box TWHs and 08 for systems under their cognizance.

Assist SDMs/DSDMs/MAITs in deconflicting differing technical viewpoints and program constraints.

Co‑lead NAVSEA Ship’s Silencing Working Group, including conducting NRP audits/ship checks to validate ship as‑built configuration.

Manage commitment updates and status.

Identify technical issues that need resolution in their area and work with applicable SITs to facilitate resolution.

Act as a liaison with other PMS450 team members and NAVSEA05 Technical Warrant Holders.

Serve as the primary customer contact for all activities, regularly meeting with and updating the customer on project status.

Establish and maintain effective relationships with the program manager, deputy program manager, and/or technical lead.

Lead program review sessions with the customer to discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance.

Provide acquisition management planning and execution support.

Lead technical discussions for project reviews, including preparing and delivering formal briefings.

Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Have

A secret clearance and U.S. citizenship.

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, math, physics, technical, or related discipline and five years of experience.

Excellent communication and analytical skills; able to meet with program officials and influence actions needed to meet program milestones.

Experience briefing senior leaders.

Proficiency with MS Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).

Ability to travel up to 10%.

Additional Desired Skills And Experience

In-depth knowledge of every aspect of the VACL submarine, including nuclear and non‑nuclear systems, and their impact on acoustic signature.

Experience minimizing acoustic signature to enhance submarine survivability.

Knowledge of submarine acoustic systems in an acquisition environment.

Familiarity with ship’s quiet operations and submarine systems.

Experience with noise control and reducing submarine acoustic signature.

Familiarity with submarine ship specification sections and first tier references.

Ability to interpret technical requirements and verify submarine program compliance.

Independent execution of tasks in accordance with SOPs or specifications.

Demonstrated experience deconflicting technical viewpoints and program constraints in a high‑tempo environment.

Team‑oriented approach with accountability and responsibility.

Willingness to work outside regular hours to fulfill tasks.

Acceptance of extensive classified material during early project phases.

Comfort working across engineering disciplines (architecture, electrical, electronics, piping, structures, HVAC).

Active duty experience in the submarine service is a plus.

Experience with Navy acquisition and/or in‑service programs.

Recent experience with Team Submarine is ideal.
