United Readers is an AmeriCorps Program with United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra (UWNNS). The goal is to provide literacy acquisition skills for children K‑5 in Northern Nevada during summer school sessions.
Member Duties
Lead groups of students according to the provided curriculum, lesson plans, and training.
Lead and develop age‑ and content‑appropriate activities based on each child’s assessed and identified needs.
Provide a safe and respectful learning experience and space for children.
Deliver and score assessments; review, analyze, and set goals for students based on assessment and other data.
Maintain Member Reflection Journals and supplementals from training.
Communicate with school site staff and program staff.
Attend required training days and orientation sessions.
Professionally represent and be an ambassador for the United Readers program, AmeriCorps, and UWNNS.
