Under the direction of the VP Marketing & Communications this position is responsible for developing and executing the external communications and executive communications strategy for Valleywise Health’s community public teaching hospital and safety net system of care. This position plays a critical role in advancing and protecting the organization’s reputation, enhancing its visibility and delivering consistent, meaningful and impactful communications that position Valleywise Health as an invaluable community asset, health care innovator and employer of choice.
Hourly Pay Rate: $59.14 - $87.23
Qualifications
Education:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, Public Relations, Marketing, Communications or related field
or
an equivalent combination of training and progressively responsible experience that will result in the required specialized knowledge and abilities to perform the assigned work.
A related master’s degree is preferred.
Experience:
Must have at least seven (7) years of progressively responsible communications or public relations experience that demonstrates a high level of understanding of the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Experience must include demonstrated leadership ability, preferably working as a Director Public Relations/Communications/Marketing, or a related management position in a healthcare setting.
Prefers 5 years in a supervisory/managerial capacity.

Must be a strong writer, presenter and communicator
Must have firm understanding of communications best practices
Must have an experience in designing, implementing, reporting and analyzing public relations and communications strategies.
Must possess excellent guest relation and communication skills, initiative, tact, diplomacy and other interpersonal skills necessary for effective leadership.
Must be a successful leader of people, have strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate a team.
Must be able to decide how to allocate people, time and other resource to create, execute, and accomplish an operating or project plan on time and within budget.
Must have solid analytical and problem-solving skills along with the ability to utilize the appropriate management techniques to plan, organize, control and coordinate activities.
Must be able to manage priorities in a dynamic environment and adapt to change quickly and positively.
Must be able to work as a team member with peers, other managers, staff and senior leadership.
Must possess good customer service and communications skills, the ability to work with professionals and maintain confidentiality standards.
Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English.
Ability to read, write and speak Spanish is a plus.
Prior experience in healthcare communications or within a healthcare organization is preferred.
