Overview
Production Engineer – Fabrication Unit Team at DuPont’s Edina, MN site. The role focuses on optimizing plant operations, resolving plant problems, and enabling safe and efficient production of low-cost, quality products. The position is onsite; remote work and relocation are not available.
Responsibilities
Own the success and failure of the assigned unit, driving accountability and continuous improvement.
Coat, ask questions, and intervene when needed to promote courageous leadership.
Challenge status quo and past norms to improve efficiency, safety, and plant culture.
Apply continuous improvement, value creation, and financial acumen to accelerate profitability and reduce costs.
Understand customer needs, driving high quality, responsiveness, and reliability.
Know plant economics—daily margin, total cost, and EBITDA—focusing on margin maximization.
Set up and maintain metrics, KPIs, and trends to optimize plant value and EBITDA.
Respond urgently to emergencies and plant issues.
Collaborate with the Production Coordinator, Supply Chain, and Production Planning to determine production capabilities and convert business plans into daily operating plans.
Act as a unit technical expert during unplanned events, leading corrective and preventive actions.
Provide expertise on raw material efficiency, yield, and waste reduction.
Ensure compliance with plant operating permits and site integration optimization.
Maintain a strong field presence, reviewing logbooks, alarm history, and daily operations.
Qualifications
BS in chemical or mechanical engineering discipline.
1-5 years of manufacturing or related experience.
Internship or co-op experience preferred (recent graduates).
