Department: Committee on Publication
The Senior Writer and Editor is a member of the Editorial Activities team in the Office of Committee on Publication. The role is driven by the mission to promote a clear and compassionate understanding of Christian Science through corrective writing and editorial work. The Senior Writer and Editor reports to the Editorial Activities Manager and collaborates closely with team members to create and edit content that counters misinformation in media, academia, and online platforms.
Summary
Daily commitment to Christian Science healing practices, offering Christian‑informed responses to public inquiries, and engaging in research to support the office’s corrective goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and maintain knowledge of public sentiment regarding Christian Science to guide corrective efforts.
Pray for healing and support essential activities in collaboration with committees.
Research, write, and edit corrective responses with Committees on Publication.
Draft content to inform and guide worldwide Committees on Publication.
Write and edit corrective responses to media, academia, clergy, letters, books, and other references.
Communicate with media and public groups, give talks, and meet with scholars, authors, and students.
Attend staff meetings and prepare documents for weekly corrective discussions.
Plan and facilitate meetings with Committees on Publication.
Write and edit regular Trends in Thought bulletins.
Lead a team to correct misinformation on Wikipedia and other encyclopedias.
Respond to questions and clarify issues on websites and social media.
Contribute to seasonal newsletters and related materials.
Assist with additional projects as assigned.

Regular Contacts
Editorial Activities Manager, Editorial Activities team, Committees on Publication, Manager’s Office staff, and worldwide Committees on Publication.
Job Requirements
Education/Experience
A college degree or equivalent. Substantial writing and editing experience.
Knowledge/Skills
Excellent verbal and written communication, developmental and structural editing, copy editing, prioritization, deadline management, and independent collaboration. Spiritual maturity, discernment, good judgment, and teachability.
Technology Skills
Proficiency with Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, and basic familiarity with social media.
Work Environment
Regularly works in an office environment at The Mother Church in Boston, MA.
Christian Science Information
Membership in The Mother Church and Primary Class instruction are required. Christian Science practice is helpful.
Pay Range
$114,112 – $148,346.80 annually.
