Podium Audio is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Author Relations Manager to join their Acquisitions and Author Relations team. A leading publisher best known for science fiction, fantasy, romance, and other genre fiction, Podium licenses, produces, and distributes content from bestselling and emerging creators.
As Author Relations Manager, you will play a key role in overseeing new and legacy literary talent and facilitating the production of our titles while supporting the Acquisitions team. This will include informing our authors on the status of their projects, funneling inquiries to the appropriate department, and answering questions with a warm and welcoming level of customer service. The ideal candidate will be able to manage partner expectations, navigate competing priorities in a fast-paced environment, and maintain trust with authors and other partners throughout production.
This role is based in Los Angeles; applicant must be able to work from our office in El Segundo in a hybrid capacity.
Primary responsibilities will include author and project management; effectively communicating at a high-level volume; asset management tasks such as processing incoming scripts and cover assets; and ensuring author deliverables meet project deadlines to keep production on track. Excellent written communication skills are required. Experience with the following programs is also beneficial: Word, Excel, Google Suite, HubSpot, Airtable, Box and Slack. Some familiarity with our core genres and digital publishing trends preferred.
Responsibilities

Onboard authors and serve as their point of contact throughout the production process, providing timeline updates, guidance, and support.
Build trust with authors, agents, and external partners by providing thoughtful, personalized support, solutions, and updates that reflect Podium's commitment to a boutique author experience.
Organize incoming material, including manuscripts, covers, and other assets.
Identify, assess, and appropriately elevate risks, delays, and roadblocks to projects. Partner cross-functionally across internal departments to develop solutions.
Identify process improvements that enhance the author experience while supporting team scalability.
Liaise with various departments to consider author requests.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree.
3+ years’ work experience in publishing or customer service or other support role.
Entrepreneurial and problem-solving mindset.
High degree of attention to detail, superior time management skills, comfortability with ambiguity and ability to audit own work.
Mindset towards continuous improvement and scaling the business.
Thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal). Ability to build rapport and maintain sensitive professional relationships.
Ability to multitask effectively, working well in team environments.
Self-motivated with a track record of accomplishment.
Physical Requirements

Primarily office-based work setting.
Must be able to work onsite Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays from our office in El Segundo.
Work hours are from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Ability to walk, stand, and move around the office as needed.
