Overview
Tory Burch is an American luxury lifestyle brand focused on casual elegance and timeless style. The Design Director, Ready-to-Wear Pre-Collection will lead the creative vision and execution for our RTW Pre-Collection, ensuring that each season reflects the brand’s elevated aesthetic and commercial relevance.
Responsibilities
Lead a team of RTW designers in creating elevated products across Pre-Collection categories.
Manage RTW swimwear categories, including coverups and caftans.
Maintain design integrity, high-quality execution, and timeliness throughout development, from concept to engineering and commercialization.
Ensure calendar adherence and manage product lifecycle from concept through final samples.
Create original sketches, technical packs, and design specifications for sampling.
Research global fashion trends, fabric innovations, color, and silhouette to inspire seasonal direction.
Develop seasonal mood boards, color palettes, and themes that support storytelling and commercial relevance.
Coordinate with merchandising to analyze performance and guide future assortments.
Maintain clear communication with cross‑functional and external teams, including Merchandising, Product Development, and Technical Design.
Attend fittings, provide design direction and feedback to ensure fit and aesthetic alignment.
Mentor and develop designers and assistant designers, fostering creativity and collaboration.
Qualifications
12+ years of women’s wear design experience, with a strong focus on wovens.
Proven leadership experience managing design teams and cross‑functional collaboration.
Track record of successful RTW collections from concept through market launch.
Strong knowledge of garment construction, fabric behavior, and patternmaking.
Excellent hand‑sketching and/or digital sketching ability.
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop), PLM systems, and Microsoft Office.
Experience developing products directly with factories, understanding the entire development process.
Strong sense of style, color, and ability to conceptualize a collection.
Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills; ability to influence and drive change.
Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
A digital portfolio of work is required.

Compensation
The compensation range for this position is $180,000.00 - $230,000.00 USD, based on relevant experience and location.
