Animator [Contract] (Retro Studios)

Job Overview
Retro Studios is seeking an Animator to bring life to a wide range of characters, creatures, bosses, and cinematics across multiple projects.

Responsibilities

Implement and maintain animations for a wide range of characters, creatures, bosses, cinematics and anything that moves.

Collaborate and share ideas on animation as well as other aspects of projects such as gameplay and story.

Identify needs and propose solutions that improve the production pipeline, focusing on long‑term improvements.

Receive and give constructive feedback to grow skills.

Demonstrate technical proficiency with animation deployment; set up simple characters and use a variety of tools to accelerate workflow.

Maintain familiarity with the game, latest changes and updates within a dynamic creative team.

Collaborate with other disciplines, contributing expertise and leveraging others’ expertise to achieve collective goals.

Express enthusiasm for the position.

Requirements

Minimum 5 years’ experience with in‑game and/or cinematic game animation, including at least 2 full production cycles.

A robust portfolio that demonstrates a wide range of animation experience.

Significant experience animating in Maya.

Undergraduate degree in art‑related subject or completion of an intensive art training program is preferred; specific experience can substitute for formal education.

Effective written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
