Senior Marketing & Business Development Manager – Energy Sector
Senior Marketing & Business Development Manager to lead the firm’s Energy sector. This essential position, reporting into the Director of Marketing and Business Development – Clients & Sectors, will be the global M&BD lead for the Energy sector.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with sector leadership, M&BD team, and others to design and execute a global strategy that aligns with firm objectives and strengthens market positioning in the Energy sector.
Act as the M&BD lead expert for the global Energy team, managing a global team and providing guidance, training, and professional development.
Lead pitch strategy for the Energy sector, aligning with the sales transformation plan and global pitch coordination; develop and manage responses to RFPs, pitches, and proposals tailored to client needs.
Lead efforts to enhance the firm’s profile through targeted campaigns, thought leadership, events, and sponsorships; conceptualize and support client seminars, webinars, and other marketing events, managing materials, day‑of logistics, and follow‑up reporting.
Oversee directory submissions for relevant rankings and publications; foster relationships with industry associations, and evaluate, coordinate, and execute sponsorships to maximize return on investment.
Support the team on the portfolio of clients within the sector, monitoring and analyzing client financial performance, conducting internal review meetings, and acting as client account manager for key clients.
Contribute to broader M&BD projects and assignments, share best practices and processes across the global sector team, and participate in the Global Citizenship program.
Qualifications
Excellent strategic and commercial awareness, with a proactive mindset to help lawyers spot and capitalize on opportunities.
Demonstrated people‑management capabilities and experience motivating and coaching business team members.
Pragmatic, diplomatic, and resourceful, with the ability to adapt quickly to different situations and personalities.
Ability to think and act strategically and proactively, while communicating effectively with tact and diplomacy; excellent writing skills and exacting attention to detail.
Strong organizational skills, capable of prioritizing and completing simultaneous projects with minimal supervision.
Experience working independently and within cross‑functional teams in a collaborative, professional environment; ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
Education, Certifications, and Experience
Eight (8) to ten (10)+ years of relevant experience, preferably in a legal or professional services industry.
Three (3)+ years of people‑management experience preferred.
Established knowledge and experience of the energy industry preferred.
Bachelor’s degree preferred; post‑graduate qualifications (e.g., MBA) advantageous.
Hours & Compensation
Core hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with one hour for lunch. Employees must be flexible to work additional hours. In Washington, D.C., the expected base salary range for this role is [$195,000 to $235,000] per year. In New York, the expected base salary range is [$205,000 to $255,000] per year. The position may include discretionary bonuses and is eligible for benefits, including medical, dental, vision insurance; a 401(k) retirement plan; and paid time off.
