Role Overview
The Biocomposites Business Development Manager is responsible for driving compliant sales growth of the Biocomposites product portfolio, focusing on NanoBone through our Spine and Foot & Ankle distribution channel and priority target accounts. The role involves motivating, educating and supporting distributor sales representatives in their sales activities, including product training, hospital and surgeon target selection and hands‑on, in‑field sales support. Regular travel to target hospitals is required to engage surgeons, peri‑operative teams and hospital staff directly to promote appropriate product use and drive adoption. The position reports directly to the Commercial Project Lead (Biocomposites, Inc.).
Responsibilities
Achieve sales revenue targets by product and specialty in assigned territory hospitals.
Drive adoption in existing accounts and new users in hospitals within assigned territory through direct sales to surgeons and support of local distribution teams.
Exhibit confidence in product knowledge and science to handle competitive threats.
Leverage data and local insight to prioritize local territory needs and activities.
Utilize business planning tools, data and information to achieve goals through set quarterly MBOs.
Enhance relationships with key stakeholders within the distributor network to influence resource allocation and prioritize focus on Biocomposites’ products.
Ensure all distributor sales representatives sell compliantly and use approved product messaging.
Provide continuous training and education to all distributor sales representatives in all territory vertical markets.
Identify and engage new distribution partners in key vertical markets.
Regularly update the distributor network on market conditions, challenges, product innovations, competition and pricing, as directed by the Commercial Project Lead.
Provide surgeon product feedback and identify challenges and opportunities to inform new product development.
Demonstrate OR and product competency to assist surgeons and the peri‑operative team with technical guidance.
Provide product in‑services and continuing education seminars to hospital staff.
Cultivate relationships with key surgeons, residents, fellows and KOLs within the geography.
Support the Commercial Project Leader, Region Sales Directors, Product Specialists and VP of Sales in business planning.
Achieve quarterly territory objectives as directed by the Commercial Project Leader.
Routinely update customer contact records, opportunities and activities in CRM.
Effectively manage hospital credentialing requirements.
Travel and conduct overnight stays within the geography as needed.
Travel to U.S. headquarters in Wilmington, NC for business meetings as needed.
Essential Skills
3‑5 years of orthopedic biologics marketing and commercial experience with focus on spine and foot & ankle surgery.
Competency in presenting technical information.
Ability to work with diverse groups including surgeons and distributor teams.
Ability to present and educate using provided materials.
Strong written, analytical, presentation and oral communication skills.
Documented ability to influence decision makers.
Advanced knowledge of human anatomy.
Understanding of Hospital Operating Room policy and procedures.
Highly organized with exceptional follow‑up.
Computer skills, CRM proficiency and ability to utilize technology for territory management.
Mandatory Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree.
Residence within the geographical territory: New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Ohio, North Carolina.
Valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle.
Background check and drug screening required.
