As part of the Inside Sales team, the Customer Development Advisor is responsible for proactively managing customer programs by identifying new opportunities, upselling, and cross-selling to enable growth. This account‑management‑oriented, phone‑based position focuses on customer loyalty by providing solutions to meet customer needs while uncovering and selling additional service signings and attaining quota.
Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
Build and maintain customer relationships through active listening to understand organizational business objectives and goals.
Communicate frequently to keep customers educated on emerging industry trends related to their IT management needs.
Identify and pursue key account selling opportunities, including responding to RFPs, conducting competitive research, and leveraging knowledge of Flexential’s product offerings.
Partner with the Customer Success team to resolve any customer issues that hinder the customer experience.
Meet or exceed monthly bookings/signings quotas for the assigned book of business by following the defined sales process.
Track and manage customer activity and forecast using Salesforce.com.
Conduct analyses such as customer needs analysis, service gap analysis, and compliance assessments.
Manage key activity metrics, including outbound calls, proactive emails, scheduled meetings, and inbound lead follow‑up for assigned accounts.
Maintain reports on lead generation activity and other quantifiable sales and marketing objective measurements.
Manage both internal and external relationships.
Perform additional duties as required and assigned.
Required Qualifications
1–2 years of technology sales experience.
Excellent phone and written communication skills.
Strong work ethic and enthusiasm for teamwork.
Self‑starter with decision‑making skills; able to think broadly and consider organizational impact.
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Salesforce.com; Discover.org (a plus).
Experience with or willingness to learn about colocation, cloud, and other product offerings.
Ability to demonstrate and maintain sales processes.
Enjoys working in a collaborative, positive, fast‑paced team environment.
Ability to partner, influence, and negotiate.
General business acumen.
Preferred Qualifications
BA/BS degree preferred.
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit for extended periods of time; moderate or advanced keyboard usage.
Pay
Base Pay Range: $28.00 – $31.00 per hour (actual pay depends on experience, location, and qualifications).
Variable Pay: Eligible for commission; expected annual commission target is $25,200 based on achievement of targets and other performance indicators.
