KSN is looking for a multi‑media journalist ready to take their skills to the next level. The role requires daily writing, shooting, editing, digital and on‐camera performance, and an active presence in the community. The right candidate will tell personal stories, hold officials accountable and develop sources.
Responsibilities
Gather and present accurate and interesting information for news stories and other content for all platforms.
Evaluate news leads and tips to develop story ideas.
Gather and verify accurate information about newsworthy events by interview, investigation or observation.
Ensure that all news content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality.
Write and deliver news stories in a clear and concise manner.
Produce accurate, complete and compelling news copy on deadline.
Build a network of sources supplying information that allows the company to stay ahead of its competitors.
Develop ideas for hard news, feature and enterprise pieces.
Present compelling, clear, creative and accurate live shots.
Organize material, shoot and edit video, and write stories based on the details and information obtained.
Respond to breaking news and other urgent newsroom situations as required.
Use various digital and social platforms to give updates and share news stories with the public.
Play an active and visible role in the community.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or related field; minimum of 2 years of on‑air news reporting experience (college or internship experience considered).
Strong reporting skills and excellent reading, writing, spelling and grammar.
Solid vocal delivery, camera presence and clear enunciation.
Understanding of digital platforms; ability to use newsroom computer systems, editing and camera equipment.
Excellent organizational skills; ability to work under tight deadlines.
Fluent in English; bilingual Spanish a plus.
Team‑player who promotes cooperation with all station personnel.
Ad‐lib presentation skill without scripts or teleprompters.
Exceptional research skills.
Training and Equipment
Operate newsroom computer systems, editing and camera equipment. Provide resume and digital reel when applying.
Work Environment / Mental / Physical Requirements
High‑stress environment with deadline pressures.
Regular travel required.
Transport equipment weighing up to 60 lbs.
Work in extreme outdoor temperatures.
A valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record are required.
