THE OPPORTUNITY
The Account Manager II manages a book of insurance business and provides professional, courteous service to clients, carrier representatives, underwriters, business partners, and HUB colleagues. The role works with Producers and other support staff to obtain, maintain, and expand business, while handling complex risk and exposures with a high degree of independent discretion, autonomy, and decision‑making.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Work closely with Producers and HUB personnel on all aspects of client service, marketing, and renewal while adhering to HUB’s best practices and standard procedures.
Provide professional, courteous service to clients, carrier representatives, underwriters, business partners, and HUB colleagues, achieving a rate of account retention that meets or exceeds expectations.
Oversee (and perform when needed) the preparation and implementation of transactions, paperwork, and internal processing for assigned accounts, including acting as backup for other support staff members.
Acquire understanding of clients’ insurance objectives and critically analyze and compare insurance plans to determine suitability.
Coordinate the implementation of the client’s strategic plan, performing key “value‑added” services such as pre‑renewal strategic planning, risk ID assessments, contract reviews, claims reviews (in coordination with Claims Management), market analysis, stewardship reports, deductible analysis, etc., and coordinating the value‑added services provided by our Risk Services and Claims Management divisions.
Act as liaison between clients and insurance carriers to resolve escalated complex service issues that require policy interpretation and experience‑based judgment, negotiate with underwriters and carriers, and troubleshoot claims and billing issues.
Identify opportunities for cross‑sell and upsell of other HUB products and services when appropriate for the clients’ needs; document other insurance products purchased through other providers and the providers themselves.
Possibly be responsible for account rounding and development of new business in accordance with standard practices, policies, and procedures.
Manage, organize, and conduct client meetings, independently or in conjunction with the producer.
Maintain accurate and organized account files, appropriately documenting conversations with clients and carrier representatives; update all HUB computer systems and automated agency management systems; ensure the accuracy of data.
Prepare reports, proposals, and comparisons for management as required.
Pursue continued knowledge and stay abreast of changes in the insurance industry and other external conditions that may impact clients; make appropriate recommendations to clients in response to those changes; attend industry‑related continuing education training and courses.
Oversee functions performed by less experienced Account Managers and Assistant Account Managers as required.
Support, mentor, and train other support staff members.
Provide a high level of support to Sales staff in obtaining, maintaining, and expanding business.
Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma / GED
5+ years account management experience (brokerage preferred) or equivalent combination of education & experience
Property & Casualty License
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages.
Ability to effectively and professionally communicate orally and in writing with internal and external customers.
Ability to efficiently gather pertinent information and facts, analyze and solve problems timely and thoroughly.
Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks and responsibilities to complete assignments on time and with optimal accuracy.
Ability to respond to customer needs, solicit customer feedback to improve service, and handle difficult or emotional customer situations promptly and accurately.
Computer skills: proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook.
Critical thinking: ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
Desire to learn and grow within the insurance industry.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position primarily involves remaining in a stationary position for the majority of the workday.
The person in this position frequently communicates with colleagues and clients both in person and on the telephone; must be able to communicate and exchange accurate information.
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

The expected salary range for this position is $75,000 – $125,000 depending on geographical location and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate's skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position's business line, scope and level. HUB International offers comprehensive benefit and total compensation packages which could include health/dental/vision/life/disability insurance, FSA, HSA and 401(k) accounts, paid‑time‑off benefits, and eligible bonuses, equity and commissions for some positions.
