Job Summary
Help NDOT tell its story through traditional, digital, and social media platforms. Coordinate initiatives and campaigns, measure impact, serve as main media contact, and lead all NDOT social media, managing posting schedules and analytics.
Responsibilities
Develop and manage social media plans to further external reach.
Serve as spokesperson or media contact for initiatives, projects, and campaigns.
Create and distribute press releases and other materials to the public.
Lead special communication projects.
Establish and maintain relationships with community, state and local government officials, business officials, and other public‑interest groups.
Assist in oral and written communication, video production, website content, graphic design, and publications.
Monitor social media channels for issues, trends, and opportunities.
Interact and respond to digital content messages, replies, and comments.
Use analytics to judge and drive the reach and success of demand generation for initiatives and campaigns.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Perform other duties necessary to support NDOT mission and values.
Qualifications
Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing, public relations, advertising, graphic arts, digital media, videography, or related field and at least 3 years of experience managing public relations or marketing campaigns.
Preferred: Experience implementing digital and social media content strategy, working with news media and media tools, and managing social media platforms.
Valid driver’s license or ability to provide transportation; occasional overnight travel.
Regular, reliable attendance; no remote or hybrid work option.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of traditional media, digital media, content platforms, and management tools.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere), digital publishing platforms (Sprout, Hootsuite, TweetDeck), and social media platforms.
Ability to create engaging print and digital content.
Ability to communicate with media using AP style.
Strong multitasking, teamwork, and independent work skills.
Ability to adapt and stay current with trends and best practices.
Excellent written and oral communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
