Position Title: Editorial Content Manager
Reports to: Steve Haak

Department: Marketing & Communications (MarComm)

Overview
The Editorial Content Manager is a dynamic role that combines editorial expertise and leadership within DigiPen's Marketing & Communications (MarComm) Department . This individual will lead the planning and creation of engaging written content and oversee institutional editorial production across channels, ensuring DigiPen’s voice, brand, story, and impact are communicated effectively. This position reports to the Director of Design and Creative Services and does not manage any staff.

Key Responsibilities
Content Creation

Steer the production of DigiPen’s story-driven content and provide editorial direction on outward-facing communications.

Act as the primary writer behind DigiPen’s institutional voice, including student, alumni, and faculty news articles; social media posts; digital ads; and other written communications.

Develop and manage monthly prospective student newsletters and craft event-related and targeted communications for a variety of audiences.

Serve as MarComm’s main reporter for student, alumni, and faculty spotlight features, campus news items, and academic explainer pieces.

Strategy and Planning

Shape DigiPen’s editorial output to keep the brand current, engaging, and reflective of its extended campus community.

Work closely with interdepartmental staff to plan and produce social media content and campaigns.

Develop comprehensive content strategies that integrate editorial writing across web, social, and marketing channels.

Editorial Leadership

Direct the implementation of DigiPen’s brand voice across all written content channels (social media, articles, web content, campaigns, and campus materials).

Lead MarComm’s writers in editorial production, planning, and direction.

Work with the Vice President of Marketing & Communications in reporting and completing college rankings and other institutional surveys.

Collaboration and Coordination

Build relationships with DigiPen alumni, faculty, and staff to generate storytelling leads and editorial opportunities.

Collaborate with the MarComm team to align content efforts with DigiPen’s overall campaigns and initiatives.

Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment across editorial, digital, and web teams.

Coordinate with staff and faculty to complete college ranking surveys or other research-oriented tasks as assigned.

Qualifications
Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in journalism, English, communications, or a related field

At least five years of professional writing experience, producing multiple content projects in a deadline-driven environment

Experience leading collaborative projects within a cross-functional marketing team

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Demonstrated ability to tell compelling stories using clear, engaging, and persuasive writing

Comfort working across digital platforms and communication channels, with the ability to adapt tone and messaging for different audiences

Strong understanding of social media as a tool for building brand awareness and engagement

Experience altering writing voice and tone to fit the channel and audience

Excellent spelling, grammar, copy editing, and proofreading skills

Preferred

Familiarity with the game and/or technology industries

Familiarity with video game culture, terms, and custom

Compensation
$65,000 annually

Working Environment
Candidates have the possibility of working a hybrid schedule after a training period.

This job is typically done in an office environment, and includes sitting and working at a computer, as well as periods of standing, and walking. May occasionally need to lift up to 25 lbs.
