Job Description
The S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University is seeking an individual to teach PRL 425 Public Relations Cases & Campaigns on MW 2:15pm-3:35pm in the Fall 2026 semester (3 credits).
Course Description
In this course students apply management, strategic planning, problem solving, tactics and research to client needs. Teams design, execute and evaluate appropriate integrated campaigns for actual clients. Frequent client/team contact and interaction required.
Union Representation
This position is part of a bargaining unit and is represented by the union SEIU, Local 200United.
Qualifications
Job Specific Qualifications
- Preference will be given to applicants with executive-level experience in public relations campaign management and experience in instructing university students.
Responsibilities
It is understood that teaching assignments may include the following:
- Developing a syllabus.
- Ordering in advance books and materials for students in the class to purchase on or before the first day of classes.
- Preparing for classes.
- Holding office hours each week to meet with students in the class and others.
- Grading in a timely manner student assignments and examinations for the course; and turning in mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to instruct the class on the days and times it is designated to meet.
- Ability to hold office hours on campus.
- Ability to grade all assignments and examinations.
Tools/Equipment
- Ability to operate standard classroom instructional technology, which may include computer, projector, document camera, etc.
