Job Summary
Senior Photographer – Athletics External Services Department. Reporting to Assistant Vice President, Creative & Brand Strategy. Responsible for delivering creative photo assets for USF Athletics including action and studio photography, editing, tagging, and publishing across social media, web, and archival platforms. Leads a team of student interns and oversees photography operations and equipment planning.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, shoot, edit, and tag photography for sport teams, events, recruiting, and department needs, ensuring adherence to brand guidelines.
Lead and coordinate a team of student interns, recruiting, training, and supervising photo production and metadata best practices.
Collaborate with Creative Project Manager and communications staff to create photo concepts and maintain coverage for games and departmental activities.
Manage budget for freelance photographers and equipment, plan yearly photo shoots for marketing, broadcast, and in‑stadium usage.
Assist with photo tagging and metadata for archival and organizational purposes.
Support special projects and assignments as directed by senior administrators.
May be required to work evenings, weekends, or travel as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in telecommunications, communications, marketing, public relations, digital media, or related field.
One to three years of experience in photography and photo editing (action and studio).
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and photo equipment.
Strong organizational skills, capacity to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree plus at least two years of experience in college athletics or professional sports photography.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience with social media platforms.
Knowledge of Adobe and photo best‑practice software.
Degree Equivalency
Four years of direct experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree, in accordance with Florida Senate Bill 1310. The substitution limits are: (a) two years of experience for an associate degree; (b) four years for a bachelor’s degree; (c) six years for a master’s; (d) seven years for a professional degree; (e) nine years for a doctoral degree.
