PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Band Director shall direct the instructional program for all band students and coordinate campus band activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Certification Requirements

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Music Education
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements - All Level or Secondary Music education
Valid Texas Driver's License
Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee.
Special Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge of subject(s) to which assigned
Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to instruct students and manage student behavior
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience

Minimum of three (3) years of public school music teaching experience
Instrumental music experience preferred
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Provide instruction in the band program
Coordinate the instructional process for band students in concert/marching/jazz, theory, appreciation/history classes
Maintain accurate band equipment and uniform inventory, budget, maintenance, and general operation of all activities
Support all district policies regarding the welfare and education of students
Coordinate the efforts of the band booster organization
Coordinate campus band activities with campus programs, staff, and community
Prepare students for quality participation in UIL/TMEA sponsored events
Participate in the professional development of personal teaching competencies
Participate in professional organizations which foster and support music education
Communicate expectations and program goals to students, faculty, parents, community, and booster club members
Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures
Maintain a consistent professional demeanor and appearance
Ensure compliance with the Texas Educator's Code of Ethics
Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervision and evaluation of District personnel is not a requirement of this position; however, the supervision of students is required. Direct the work of instructional aide(s).

Office equipment - persona computer, printer, calculator, multi-line telephone, software programs and peripherals, copier, fax, and other equipment applicable to position.
Communication equipment - radio communication equipment, cellular telephone
