Director, Private Client Group

A New York City based Certified Public Accounting and Consulting firm with a New York and Florida presence is seeking to hire a Director, Private Client Group to join their teams. This is a hybrid position in New York City. The Director will be supporting high-net-worth individuals, families, and closely held entities with complex tax needs.
This role is designed for a seasoned tax professional who thrives in a client-facing, leadership-oriented environment and is comfortable overseeing sophisticated engagements while developing teams and deepening client relationships. The Director will serve as a key advisor to clients and an internal leader within PCG, balancing technical excellence, people management, and strategic execution.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Act as a primary advisor to high-net-worth clients, delivering thoughtful tax planning and compliance solutions across individual, trust, estate, and pass-through entity matters.
Oversee complex tax engagements from planning through execution, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to firm standards.
Review advanced individual, fiduciary, and partnership tax returns and related deliverables.
Partner with clients' external advisors (attorneys, wealth managers, family office professionals) to address multi-dimensional tax and wealth considerations.
Lead, mentor, and develop Managers and Senior Managers, providing coaching, technical guidance, and performance feedback.
Support Partners in strengthening long-term client relationships and identifying opportunities to expand services.
Monitor changes in tax legislation and translate developments into practical guidance for clients and internal teams.
Contribute to practice initiatives, including training, process improvement, and knowledge sharing within the Private Client Group.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
CPA preferred.
Experience:
10+ years of progressive public accounting experience with a strong focus on high-net-worth taxation.
Demonstrated experience with individual, trust, estate, and partnership tax matters.
Prior experience supervising teams and reviewing complex tax work.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build credibility with clients and colleagues.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
Compensation:
Competitive annual salary in the range of $200,000 to $350,000, based on individual's experience level.
