Director of the Celebration Choir

Job Summary
Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church is a thriving, growing church in East Bethel, MN who is seeking a talented and dedicated choir director to help people encounter God’s presence in worship. We have a strong focus on community and music. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for music and a detailed understanding of choral directing. Familiarity with songs and liturgy of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America is helpful.

Responsibilities

Prepare, organize, recruit, rehearse and lead the Celebration Choir, which sings in worship three to four times per month from September through May.

lead the choir singing 1-2 times during the summer at our historic chapel.

Research texts/themes, select and order music

Study music and texts, map rehearsals

Schedule, communicate, recruit, organize physical elements

Lead choir rehearsals & performances during worship

Ensure all music is licensed for streaming, etc.

Attend monthly Music Staff meetings and 1:1 meetings with the Music Director.

Education, Skills, and Qualifications
Knowledge of and appreciation for contemporary and traditional Christian music and open to continuous learning and exploration of new music; ability to lift 25 pounds occasionally; strong leadership; exceptional planning and communication; collaborative team player with staff and volunteers; bachelor’s degree in music preferred; proficient with computers.
