Position Overview
The Dominican Friars of the Province of St. Albert the Great are seeking a talented and mission-driven Graphic Designer to create compelling visual content for print, digital, web, and social media platforms.
This position is ideal for a creative professional who can combine strong design skills with storytelling, brand development, and an appreciation for Catholic and Dominican identity. The designer will help communicate the mission of the Dominican Friars through visually engaging materials that support communications, education, fundraising, and outreach.
This position is based in Chicago. Employees are expected to work on-site during an initial onboarding and training period. After successful completion of that period, a hybrid arrangement may be considered based on performance and departmental needs.
Primary Responsibilities
Design print and digital materials including:
Magazine spreads
Brochures
Flyers
Posters
Signage
Email graphics
Social media content
Website graphics
Develop logos, infographics, and custom illustrations
Create compelling visual storytelling that inspires engagement and reflects the mission of the Dominican Friars
Brand Management
Help create and maintain visual brand standards and consistency across platforms
Ensure all materials reflect the identity, heritage, and values of the Order of Preachers
Social Media & Digital Content
Create graphics and visual assets for Province social media accounts (excluding Vocations accounts)
Coordinate and schedule social media posts (excluding Vocations accounts)
Design graphics for websites and email campaigns
Assist with updates to Province website(s)
Collaboration & Production
Collaborate with the Office of Mission Advancement leadership on creative projects
Interpret creative briefs and translate concepts into effective visual communications
Prepare final artwork for print production and digital distribution
Maintain organized design files and archives
Other Duties
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned
Required Qualifications
Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, especially:
InDesign
Photoshop
Illustrator
Adobe Express / Creative Cloud
Strong understanding of:
Typography
Layout
Color theory
Visual hierarchy
Print production
Digital media standards
Experience designing for both print and digital platforms
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate effectively
Strong attention to detail
Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
Basic familiarity with website platforms
Familiarity with HTML/CSS is a plus but not required
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a Catholic organization or ministry setting
Familiarity with Catholic visual culture, symbolism, and liturgical life
Knowledge of the Dominican Order and its spirituality is a plus
Ability to synthesize theological or mission-oriented themes into visual communications
Education & Experience
Required
Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or a related field
Minimum of 2 years of professional graphic design experience
Portfolio demonstrating both print and digital work
Preferred
Graduate studies in Communications, Theology, Ministry, or related fields
Experience working on mission-oriented or faith-based projects
Salary
$50,000‑$60,000 annually, commensurate with experience
