Overnight Shift Supervisor
About the Role
The Overnight Shift Supervisor provides on-site operational leadership within the RTC's scattered site model during overnight hours. This role ensures a safe, stable, and structured environment while maintaining continuous supervision of youth and staff. The Overnight Shift Supervisor serves as the highest-level on-site leader and is responsible for crisis response, safety monitoring, staffing coordination, and overnight regulatory compliance.
Must obtain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) Trainer certification within six (6) months of hire; registration required upon hire.
What You'll Do
1. Operational and Administrative Oversight:
Serve as the on-site leadership point person during overnight shifts
Monitor and adjust staffing across sites to maintain required supervision ratios and ensure coverage
Ensure accurate timekeeping, staff accountability, and overnight shift documentation.
Maintain and review documentation including incident reports, logbooks, census, and overnight status updates
Oversee implementation of AWOL/missing person protocols and high-risk procedures
Notify leadership of critical incidents in accordance with agency and regulatory requirements
Prepare and communicate clear overnight summaries for day team handoff
Serve as liaison to emergency services (e.g., police, fire, EMS) as needed
Oversee transportation coordination when applicable (e.g., medical emergencies, urgent needs)
2. Crisis Leadership & Safety Management:
Lead overnight crisis response and deploy staff as needed
Ensure adherence to TCI protocols and confirm appropriate follow-up after incidents
Review incident documentation for accuracy and completeness prior to shift end
Support post-crisis stabilization and ensure return to a safe environment
Conduct routine overnight safety checks, including environmental rounds
Ensure youth are accounted for at all times and maintain line-of-sight/supervision expectations
3. Direct Youth Care & Program Implementation:
Provide on-shift supervision and coaching to Childcare Workers and Support Staff.
Supervise and support Childcare Workers during overnight shifts
Ensure appropriate supervision of youth, including sleep routines and overnight structure
Respond to youth needs during the night, including emotional support, de-escalation, and basic care
Reinforce trauma-informed, strengths-based practices and professional boundaries
Support onboarding and guidance of overnight staff
Ensure readiness of the site for the next day (cleanliness, organization, and preparation)
4. Team Leadership & Supervision:
Promote accountability, communication, and consistency across overnight staff
Address and elevate staff performance or conduct concerns as needed
Ensure effective shift-to-shift communication with incoming day staff
Utilize TCI Trainer certification to provide coaching and facilitate TCI-based training for RTC staff as needed, with a focus on supporting staff on assigned shifts.
Provide monthly individual and group supervision to assigned staff, including coaching, performance feedback, and documentation in accordance with agency standards.
Your Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED required
Minimum 5 years' experience in residential treatment, special education, or similar setting
At least 2+ years in a supervisory or leadership role
Experience working with youth with behavioral, emotional, or developmental needs
Strong crisis management, decision-making, and leadership skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple sites during overnight hours
Valid driver's license with a safe driving record required

Work Environment
This position operates within a 24/7 Residential Treatment Program serving youth ages 12-21 across multiple sites. Staff are assigned a primary location but may be required to support other sites as needed.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, on-site overnight position with typical hours of 11:00pm-7:00am, including weekends and holidays. Staff may be required to remain on shift if coverage is unavailable and must maintain flexibility in scheduling and location to ensure continuity of care.

Authorized to work in the U.S.
Ability to work on-site and travel between program locations as needed
Must be approved as an agency driver upon hire
Maintain all required certifications and trainings, including TCI and fire safety certifications (e.g., S95, F07)
Complete required trainings and maintain annual recertifications
