About the Role
Sr. Interactive Designer, Ad Innovation

Wall Street Journal | Barron’s Group (WSJ|BG) is looking for an experienced interactive designer for the Ad Innovation rich media studio. This person will be primarily responsible for post‑sale custom ad unit production, while contributing to pre‑sale ideation, concept design and proprietary ad format development.

The ideal candidate will be solutions‑driven, proactive, and passionate about creating elegant ad experiences. They will be an advocate for innovation and help accelerate WSJ|BG’s position as an industry leader in rich media.

With input from the Ad Innovation Executive Director and Sr. Interactive Design Manager, the candidate will be responsible for the production lifecycle of assigned client campaigns (working primarily within Celtra), while contributing to the team’s roadmap of new ad products and implementing best practices for performance and efficiency.

You Will
Develop Competitive Custom Templates

Produce responsive ad templates, inclusive of design, layout, functionality, and custom event tracking

Establish and execute best practices for performance, speed and scalability

Collaborate on streamlined ad creative specs for client asset deliverables

Incorporate polite user experiences while adhering to WSJ|BG best practices of standards and ethics

Work with the interactive design manager to execute new ad template rollouts and meet road‑mapped goals

Proactively develop ongoing knowledge base of new capabilities and products within the Celtra ecosystem

Manage Production and Workflow

Assist in defining and supporting an optimal workflow for the interactive design team

Collaborate with the Project Management team to service client requests seamlessly throughout campaign builds

Implement streamlined custom event tracking when applicable for consistent performance reporting

Set & contribute to best practices for campaign mocks, wireframes and storyboards

Contribute to ideation for high‑stake and complex client requests

Leverage expertise to execute on quick‑turnaround requests

Operate with a sense of urgency and professionalism

You Have

5+ years of relevant design and ad product development experience

Knowledge of Celtra or comparable interactive studio platforms, inclusive of template management and custom event tracking implementation

Portfolio featuring past work and experience with ad templates

Stand‑out understanding of intuitive UI/UX

Excellent communication and presentation skills, with ability to articulate design decisions clearly and persuasively

Enthusiastic, professional demeanor and experience working in a client‑oriented setting (internal or external)

Experience navigating advanced features (such as location- and time‑based personalization)

Comprehensive project management and experience in executing multiple projects simultaneously

Familiarity with publishing and testing ad units to web environments

Background in digital advertising is a plus

Experience with the following is a plus:

Web & App Ad Platforms

Coding (JS, HTML and/or CSS)

API integrations and feeds
