Assistant Editor – Media Asset Management
The Assistant Editor supports media asset management, transcoding, and editorial workflows. This role handles ingest and output for multiple teams—including Servicing, On‑Air Editorial, Social Media, Publicity, and Post Ops—and performs editorial tasks such as project prep, string‑outs, assemblies, clean prints, basic edits, and QC of master files. The position also supports live production and videography workflows as needed.

Responsibilities

Handles asset management (Linear Tape Open, Shared Storage, cloud) using Avid Interplay & others.

Media ingest and/or output to/from editorial and transcoding.

Manages assigned client support tickets via Happy Fox ticketing system.

Edits (string‑outs, assembly, restores, editorial projects as assigned).

Tests, improves, troubleshoots, and creates new workflows in AVID and Vantage systems.

Supports live production workflows including managing camera equipment, lighting equipment, ingesting footage, and logistical support.

Digital Cinema Package creation for assets delivered around the world.

Performs additional job‑related duties or projects as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience
Work Experience

Minimum 5 years in post‑production editorial environment.

Minimum 3 years as assistant editor in an Avid environment.

Previous entertainment industry experience required.

Experience in content marketing a plus.

Education, Professional Training, Technical Training or Certification

BA/BS Degree or other comparable training required.

Knowledge & Skills

Experience in fast‑paced post‑production environment with multiple editors, producers, and stakeholders, working under tight deadlines.

Extensive hands‑on experience with Avid Isis, Avid Interplay & Avid Media Composer in an offline/online environment including basic troubleshooting.

Must be experienced using Media Asset Management (MAM) systems.

Deep understanding of industry best practices for tiered storage management and archive using LTO and cloud storage (AWS and MS Azure) in a post‑production environment.

Experience with SGL and/or Masstech LTO archive software.

Understanding of Filemaker Pro, Reach Engine, MOG, Avid Pro‑tools, Telestream Vantage, DaVinci Resolve.

Experience with creating, adhering to, and enforcing delivery specs including the ability to use a waveform monitor/vectorscope for picture and standard metering tools in Avid for audio.

Participated in creation, testing and execution of workflow changes with many stakeholders.

Knowledge of DCPs, Digests and KDMs for screenings.

Must be highly productive and maintain a high standard of technical quality in accordance with broadcast standards.

Strong project management skills and proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks and execute tasks in a high‑pressure environment.

Knowledge of advertising and promotional terminology and procedures, including image formats, graphics, logos, video duplication, new technology (platforms, libraries, digital asset management) and written material.

Must have extensive knowledge of all video resolutions, formats, and codecs (e.g., 3480×2160, 1920×1080, UHD, DNXHD, ProRes, MXF).

Author and burn Blu‑Ray’s and DVD’s.

Creation and prep of EDLs, AAFs, XMLs for finishing.

Compensation & Benefits
Pay Range: $44,102.00 – $81,904.00 per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short‑ and long‑term incentives, and program‑specific awards. Compensation may vary based on market data, location, skill set, experience and performance.
